Summary:
These boots fit me lovely- I wore these technical boots everywhere for a few months. They rock- but the problem is that the stitching has come undone on the right and left sides of the ball of my foot. Goodybe waterproofing, and hello to a perfect pocket to collect snow as I hike. It is with sadness I have to send them to Garmont for replacement.
So I give it 5 stars for what it was, and unfortunately only 2 for durability...too many seams, ya know?

Summary:
Used them for ice and mixed climbing in the White Mountains this January. My motivation for purchasing this boot was weight and maneurability. Plastic boots until then (would like to try out those new plastic/pebax scarpas) were too clunky and heavy, leather boots have this problem of getting wet over prolonged usage. Opted for this boot for fit and that kevlar can't absorb water.
Excellent fit and comfort for the approaches. Excellent stiffness for the technical climbing on mixed and ice routes. Feet still stayed warm without VBLs (though I still continued to wear BD Sportee gaiters and used a store-bought insole insulator). I have nearly flat feet and splayed toes, the boots run a size or half size smaller than what is on the tag. The lacing system is excellent when wearing gloves with those balls bearings in each eyelet, which make cinching down easy even when wet. If the original laces are Kevlar, this material will not hold a not as well as flat regular laces. I did replace laces with flat laces to be certain of fit. Consider my ratings below as preliminary- I will be climbing with them in the Grand Tetons this summer, so stayed tuned for another report.
