Price Paid:  $200.00 at ebay...

Summary:
Well, after having regular Nepal's for six years (still great) I thought I would give the extreme's a shot for the extra warmth. Got a killer deal on a pair slightly used on Ebay, and well... they just rock. I can't believe someone would badmouth a boot line for a poor fit on thier foot. Bummer man, but get over it. These things climb, hike, run etc without a hitch. Bombproof boot for all your climbing needs!!!

Customer Service:
amazing

Price Paid:  $320.00 at internet site in fra

Summary:
these boots have never fit right, I had them sized by a dealer in vancouver bc then bought them from, I think pyronese a web store in france. I've called the us customer service and they were very nice and sent me some tounge pads to help with the many blisters I get every time I wear them. dosen't help though- my only recoarse is to send them back to france- then if they don't fit any better I'm out the shipping money and still in the same situation. I climbed all the major volcanos in WA state with these boots and each time the boots reeked havoc on my trip. the blisters are so bad my feet are bleeding on summit day. At this point I have been using the boots for six monts and there getting no better. I've spent additional money on footbeds and special socks. So in closing I would not recomend anyone buy these boots. they are extreamely painful and if bought out of the us you have no way of fixing problems-

Customer Service:
very friendly but not much help in my case

Price Paid:  $200.00 at France

Summary:
I've used these boots for two ice climbing seasons and one mountaineering season. I have not found a downside to these boots. They are warm, comfortable, easy to hike in, climb in, etc.
The tongue is adjustable and removable. Sometimes I take it out and wear my super thick synthetic socks.
The toe section is very roomy and never makes my toes feel cramped or squashed.
The lacing system is great with the locks located at mid-height.
Freezing at night hasn't been a problem for me. I keep my boots between my sleeping bag and my neighbor's, put them under the foot of my bag or throw leftover handwarmer packets into them.

Customer Service:
La Sportiva makes great stuff. Haven't had to use their customer service.

Reviewed by: Mike ,  Climber , from PA

Price Paid:  $340.00

Summary:
Simply put, these boots are sweet. I bought them to supplement a pair of plastic boots I own and I ended up selling the plastics because these boots do it all. They climb ice like a dream. No more sloppy heal slippage but still plenty of room for my toes to wiggle and stay warm (I have medium to wide feet). They are very stiff in the sole, allowing for precise climbing on rock and ice (they edge great but smearing is another story). They were comfortable right out of the box...no blisters. They hike infinitely better than most ountaineering boots. They're also pretty warm...which I attribute to proper sizing more than the insulation. If your toes don't have enough room they will always get cold. When it gets real cold (-25 degrees in the Daks) I wear a VBL, which has always kept my feet toasty warm.

The only downside is shared by all leather boots...on multi-day cold weather mountaineering trips they tend to freeze overnight regardless of how wet they are (I pair em with supergaiters and VBLs on long trips to keep the boots dry from the outside and inside). This makes for an uncomfortable start to the day. Plastics rule in this regard because you can sleep with the liners in your bag and they come out toasty warm day in and day out.

They are rather expensive. Fortunately I got them 20% off. Nevertheless, they're built for the long haul and I swear they were worth every damn penny because my feet are warm and comfortable now...not to mention I think they improved my ice climbing a bit (no more heel slippage and warm feet equals better performance on steep ice).

These boots rock!
