at local store Summary: I love the feel of support when wearing this boot. As a mining/exploration geologist, I've put considerable miles on these boots. However, the only flaw I can see in the Vasque Alpine is with the interior fabric pulling away from the padding at the top of the boot. I believe it is a poor design for such a great feeling boot. Similar Products Used: I used to be a Danner man (early 90's) until they mucked with the Danner Light.

at Redwing Summary: Okay, I see some reviews with hesitation and disbelief on if they should purchase VASQUE ALPINE boots. Let me say that I have worn 2 pair of Alpine’s into the ground and I just now ordered my 3rd pair. I have been through 3 style changes and every time Vasque has improved the boots in some way for added comfort or user benefit. If you are an avid outdoor person you need these. If you are a recreational person with no drive you could use them but wont get the full benefit from them. If you are worried about the $250 dollar price tag, don’t. They are worth every penny. Take the plunge. Redwing (which is Vasque’s sister company) sells them cheaper direct with free shipping. They also give you free leather treatment and laces. What a deal!!
With my first pair, I even had my steel shank break away from my sole (inside the Vibram sole), which would snap, on every step after 4 years of use and Vasque replaced the boots with no questions asked. Now that is SERVICE!! I am more than sold on Alpines. I am a believer and hard-core user. I have 5 other pairs of Vasque boots yet I can’t pry myself from the added support that the rigid and stiff boot offers me. I can climb edges of rocks where other boots bend and allow no traction. I can also go up near vertical inclines by digging my foot in “so to speak” on the side of the hill. I am not exaggerating these facts. I wish I could benefit from all the people I have talked into buy Vasque boots. But unfortunately I cant.
If you want an INCREDIBLE boot that is stiff yet ready for ANY terrain, you have found it! Totally waterproof and ready for anything you are willing to walk on. Look no further. I would also suggest getting a Vasque custom insole for even better foot to insole contact and to wear a premium sock, such as Wigwam or equivalent. If you have any questions, please e-mail me and I will help answer any questions you can think of. Good luck and give them an honest chance and I am willing to bet you wont EVER feel totally 100% comfortable in a softer, more flexible soled boot. It will just feel too sloppy to you. Don’t get me wrong, a soft boot will make you feel fast and free... but when the going gets rough, you can rest assure other hikers will be feeling the trail and you will be blazing it with Vasque ALPINE boots!! at Environeers Summary: I have just ordered my new pair of Alpines with some hesitation. I purchased a pair of Vasque "Super hikers" (I'm told) nearly 6 years ago and have worn them into the ground. I love these boots. I had them resoled and now the interior is beyond repair.
I initially made the purchase for the various backpacking trips I take. I have since worn them to Ecuador, Mt Cotopoxi and Washington state, Mt. St. Helens.
The boots were so comfortable that I was wearing them around town - perhaps in my mind on an extended hiking trip - lol.
I can only hope my new pair of alpines will match the degree of workmanship and durability of my last pair of boots. Similar Products Used: started with vasque, staying with vasque!

at Quest Summary: I bought a pair of Vasque Alpines in the Fall of 1999. I have had them ever since and have been totally satisfied with them. They have probably been over roughly 500 miles of different terrains. They have been hiking in New Mexico, RMNP, Glacer/Waterton Nat'l Park, and numerous other places. The sole has since worn down to almost totatlly flat on the ball of the foot, but they are still comfortable and tough. The traction has been awesome, and even though the shoelace grommets have worn small holes into the leather(in my opinion, it's my fault for not treating them correctly with leather conditioner) the Gore-Tex lining has not been punctured and they continue to give me great use. For my next pair of boots, if I ever get a next pair, I will strongly consider The Alpine GTX... Vasque's improved version. These boots are awesome. at local outfitter Summary: These boots are very comfortable right out of the box. Did a 30 miler with virtually no break-in and had no problem with blisters. NixWaxed with the liquid type and have had them in snow and rain with no problems. After breaking in some Scarpa Rios for my first pair of hiking boots, I had no idea what a pleasure it could be to have comfortable boots right of the box. In my experience Vasque boots run a little more high volume and as I have narrow feet, these are the only Vasque boots that have ever fit me. They would be worth buying at full price but on sale they are a great deal. Customer Service: N/A Similar Products Used: Scarpa Rio
