Good pack; have not had any problems except for wishing sleeping bag compartment was bigger. Fine for people who don't need frills.

I don't find it the most comfortable pack and the hip belt will not hold the weight no matter how much the hip belt is tightened. Squeeze you guts out before it will stop moving down the buttocks. Eventually the shoulder straps become the main support of the packs weight. The sleeping bag zipper on the bottom is not big enough to easily remove a regular sized sleeping bag and during cold weather it is a big problem. For the money spent I could have done better getting a clearance high quality pack for the same price. Chaulk one up to lack of knowledge on backpacks.

Main hip buckel sucks, when tightened well it slips unlocked.
stitching is comeing apart in crucial places.
Not a very comfertable fit.

Customer Service

It was cheap so I thought Id try it.
Not the best pack but with a new hip buckel it will do the job.

A good pack for all conditions. The positive sides are: comfortable even with a big load, fits for even a small person and of course few plastic components (that tend to break in cold conditions). The down sides are: perhaps little heavy. I´ve had it for a year and tried it in various conditions and I´m quite pleased.

I have had this backpack for 3 years and at first I hated it but know love it since exchangeing the hipbelt and shoulder harness. The pack rides really well and it also doubles quite well for a fourteener summit pack.

Customer Service

They exchanged the hipbelt and shoulder harness for the correct size no questions asked.

very comfortable, had a fifty pound load and it was still comfortable as a fifty pound load will ever be, too heavy my bag is about seven and a half to eight pounds size large, pricey, good usable straps and pockets

Customer Service

I've had this pack for 2 years and can't complain. Its very comfortable and can adjust to carry large, varying loads. I wish it had more pockets though.

This pack is ok, I uses it on a 70 mile trek in the mountains of New Mexico in 1997. With out a side zipper or a back panel opening it is a little more difficult to get into the pack. I found that if I stored things that iwanted quicker near the top and near the bottom sleeping compartment zipper it worked well. I also put two side pouchs on it for really quick access. Mine is a medium pack and the fanny pack top was a little to small. I couldn't both my rain jacket and pants in the fanny pack top. The main problem it has is that some times the hip belt buckle will snap loose. I also thougt that the fanny pack topbelt buckle should be the same size as the main hip belt buckle. That way you always have a spare if the main buckle gets broken. The wing pockets and the back pocket are great features though.

This pack has never hurt me! It fits my frame very well, and I can cary quite a load though its size is not obscene. It is very well balanced, but packing takes some practice. It is one of the best values for a confortable internal frame pack. Panel access would be nice, but I'll trade comfort for accessability any day!

Customer Service

After my first trip with my pack to Germany, some of the stiching on the hip belt had worked loose. I took it back to the store (a North Face Summit Shop), and they replaced the belt on the spot.

I am very fond of my pack, which I have used for 8 years, all over the US. Organizing the pack can be kinda difficult with no easy way to access the bulk of your stuff but through the top. The main disadvantage of this feature: you can't turn to your hiking buddy and say, ""Hey, dude, grab the binoculars/socks/whatever from inside my pack."" If you want something that just happens to be packed in the back, you have to take the pack off to get to it. Now maybe I am just a bad packer, because there are several side pockets that can be used. And the pack was always well balanced and comfy. It has never jabbed me or toppled me or given me a back-ache. I did buy a very expensive pack before I got this one that I had to return the next week because it nearly broke my back in two! So comfort-wise this is an A+. So I love it, and bet it would be difficult to find a pack that beat it in that area.

The other BackPack I bought and returned was a very expensive internal frame pack. It nearly killed me. I would have been more comfortable balancing it on my head for 9 miles.
