Our Geodome Mtn-2/3 is now 11 yrs old and has served us faithfully until this past summer when the entry zippers began to fail. This tent always kept us warm and dry and managed to stay erected even in the face of high winds (gusts of 60mph) when other lesser tents were collapsing around us. I'll probably have new zippers sewn in and keep it for hikes only (spaceous for 2, full at 3) and rely on a new REI Base Camp 4 for our next "go-to" car camping tent. This review is more of a tribute than buyer tip as these tents are no longer made. If I found one in excellent condition I'd snap it up; it rivals tents many hundreds of dollars more in cost. 3 man geo tent pole sleeves of stretch mesh developed holes after 4 months of daily usage, ie setup and strike on daily basis. Problem is hard to fix holes as have to weave thread through the mesh. If repairs not made holes will enlarge or tear. Most holes appeared near peak. Rest of the tent in good condition after 2 years of use. Have used tent in rain, snow, wind. Customer Service I talked to rei and recommended they not continue to use the mesh material due to early wear problem. |

Purchased June 2000 - Geo-Mountain 4. I picked this tent because it sleep 2 adults and 3 kids (under 12) well - even with all our hiking gear. It weights a heap but for the five of us it is worth the effort. Similar Products Used: None |

Value - very good (we won this tent in a compition @ our local REI - we had to set it up and break it down faster than anyone else Plastic Clippy Dealies to atatch the poles - better than mesh sleeves, no better or worse than solid sleeves Vestibule - wonderful; there are two guy wires that we always trip over (not neccecary, but the only way to pull the fabric tight) Double doors Similar Products Used: None |

Despite the fact that this is a heavy tent, it is really great for climbing since you can get your whole rope team (ie three people) in there comfortably with all the gear. I have never had any leaking problems or condensation problems and it took 50 mph sustained winds all night at 10,000 ft for the poles to bend. The tent survived (while some North Face tents did not) and just needed some pole replacements. Great tent for the price if you don't mind carrying it. Similar Products Used: None |

Heavy, but worth it when the weather gets nasty. I have slept in this tent with rain coming down so hard it was almost like sleeping on a water bed. We stayed dry. In the nice summer months I wouldn't mind something lighter, but around here you never know what you're going to get, and this tent has never let me down. Similar Products Used: None |

Although I have always been happy with both the service and quality of products from REI in the past, I'm afraid this time I'll have to state otherwise. I bought GEO 2-3 at a discounted price of $200 and the salesperson insisted that "she was go to go right out of the box" no need to seal any seams. Seems (no pun intended) that was far from the truth. After about 2 hours of a heavy rain on the first outting, we had two puddles in the floor at our feet and a drip right onto my bag at waist level. I have since sealed all the seams and have yet to try it in the rain, hopefully my next trip will be dryer. Overall, I will admit the tent looks well made, go figure! I kept the rating high because despite the unpleasent trip I believe the tent will turn out to be a good value. It has double doors, a nice big vestibule and quick setup. Customer Service With the exception of this one incident, I've had nothing but the best of service from REI. Similar Products Used: Sierra Design, Camel and Mountain Hardware. |

Spacious, sturdy and lightweight - a trooper of a tent. Spent many nights in the Dome in the Rockies in rain, hail, strong winds and heat, and this one never failed me. Pricey but worth it. Customer Service Can always count on REI for prompt friendly service. Similar Products Used: None |

I have the 4-person version of the geo mountain. Mainly purchased for the ability to stand up inside. Plenty of room to get a full size air mattress inside with extra space for walking around and storage. No vestibule but have been through serious downpours and extended rains without leakage. A good reasonably priced tent. Similar Products Used: Sierra Design |

I love it. The size is perfect. It's a palace for two, but just right for 3. Setup is easy and fairly quick. Double doors and vesibules add tons of convenience. The large vestibule in the front is great for stowing gear or cooking in the rain. The only things I don't like are the necessity of sealing the seams, and the fact that its heavier than a two-person tent. Customer Service REI's customer service is EXCELLENT in my experience. Similar Products Used: I've slept in my climbing partner's two person Marmot tent. I like mine better because its roomier. |
