Used sherpa snow claws for 10 plus years in all conditions including bent and broke. They are by far the most durable.Heade and shoulders above tubbs that were to slippery and a man over225 would go through alotof bindings that are a pain to repair The Best snow slipper is the sherpa Similar Products Used: tubbs varios other demo shoes all did not last |

I am reviewing the Arctic Trekker snowshoe. I work for a forestry and resource supply company that dealt with Sherpa for many years, as they were the industrial snowshoe of choice. Now that they are defunct, we decided to build our own snowshoe to fill the hole in the commercial/industrial/backcountry market. We call it the Arctic Trekker, and its style and function are based roughly on the old Sherpa Mountain snowshoe, except that it exceeds the quality and durability in everyway. It has a thick tempered frame, with double coated uerathane decking. the claws are aggressive and stainless steel. It is the premier snowshoe of its kind and it is our goal to have the Arctic Trekkers on the foot of every former Sherpa user. Oh yah, all of the parts are interchangeable with the Sherpa, making us the last supplier of Shepra repair parts in North America. Please see them on our website. www.irlsupplies.com Customer Service Customer service is prompt and knowledgable. Arctic Trekker snowshoes have a lifetime manufactorer defect warranty. I run a snowshoe program at a public school. We ordered Sherpa snowshoes because of the dual rotation and the honorable repair policy. The shoes are excellent but since then the company has changed hands and they no longer offer the free repair policy. Also we bought some of the newer models with the comfort bindings. They don't match the older models and the rivets have broken. To me the newer models are less durable and the company should offer its honorable repair policy to those who bought their product before they changed hands. Our school has since purchased numerous pairs of snowshoes and needless to say they are not Sherpas. I have spoken to a few shop owners and they have given up on Sherpa. They are a classic example of not sticking with a product and a policy that works. I agree with the lawyer who said there should be some recourse for the people who lost the honorable repair policy. Customer Service The original Sherpa company had an excellent customer service record. The new company should be concerned about customer service rather than the bottom line. |

I've had the 9x34 model for several years now. They're clearly better than the junk produced by Atlas, Tubbs, Yuba, etc. The decking is a polyurethane coated nylon instead of the less durable neoprene (costs Sherpa about three times as much for the raw material). It has the decking laced on in five sections for traction, durability and field repairs. The standard bindings stay on with a variety of boots and you can purchase the best step-in binding for mountaineering boots on the market. If you're hiking up icy terrain, their Tucker crampons are the best available. If you're a oil pipeline worker, then they have a less agressive stainless steel crampon for you. GREAT ALL AROUND SNOWSHOES. If you're just going out for a weekend hike, then Tubbs, Atlas, etc. are fine. If your life depends on the snowshoe, pick the Sherpas. Customer Service Phenomenal (at least prior to the lastest buyout). They've basically had a lifetime repair policy. |

I was marginally impressed by this shoe. I didn't find it as durable as others I have used. The webbing is very suseptable to abraision. The bindings often became loose. Similar Products Used: MSR, Atlas, Tubbs |

I love my Sherpa's. There great in loose deep powder and not really bad in hard pack. They do get alittle cumbersome in hardpack trails with fixed width. Customer Service I was missing a set of gromets for the cleats they have three diffrent ones that vary your style. I called them and told them I would buy them and they just sent them to me free of charge. Similar Products Used: MSR's and Tubbs |

I've got the featherweight model (the smallest) and they float good on all but the lightest powder yet are small enough to turn easily. I've stepped on sticks and rocks a suffered no damage to the webbing. The bindings don't clog with snow and have a metal claw for ice. Customer Service They never broke. Similar Products Used: I've actually sold these in favor of mountaineering skis. Skis are still more versitile and dependable. |
