I really liked this product, it is quite spacious for a small guy like me. My boyfriend and I can fit in it together when the weather gets kinda rough. I would reccomend it for those hot steamy nights in the backcountry. |

Very well designed bivy sack. After shopping extensively for a bivy, I chose the Cyclops and have never regretted it for an ultralight shelter. Since it is not hooped, it is a bit claustrophobic but the tradeoff is its ultra light weight. I wish it was a couple of inches longer. I am 6' and like a bit of wiggle room. I have the bug netting accessory for it (purchased about 5yrs ago when it first became avail). Customer Service Outstanding Similar Products Used: none |

My first use of the bag was not pleasant. I used it in the Sierras at above 10K feet. I had a few issues. I had no issue with the bag having no support, resting on my face (my face is enclosed in a mummy sack any wise). When my mouth was near the opening my nose and mouth froze (it was mid 20s outside). When my mouth was not near the opening I got significant condesation (it was raining inside my bivy). I must admit that this was my first time using any bivy in this type of conditions and possibly I was expecting too much. I have the mosqito netting, but have not used it Customer Service REI is a great store with the best customer service. I have had many positive experiences with them including one dealing with this bivy. A snap on the bivy literally broke in half and they fixed it Similar Products Used: Surplus military bivy |

Awesome bivy for winter use. I have an Outdoor Research Deluxe Bivy and it doesn't compare with the Cyclops's ability to adjust in many ways for your arms, or to just shed the top part of the bivy and still stay comfortably in your sleeping bag (impossible with the other bivys). I do not have the netting for summer use, but I am going to try to find it; the Cyclops should be equally great in warmer weather. Customer Service REI is the best company out there for standing by ANYTHING they sell. Similar Products Used: OR Deluxe Bivy, Bibler Bivy |

I have only used this bivy once when a friend who has one asked if I would be willing to swap my OR Advanced Bivy woth his Cyclops bivy for a weekend summit attempt since he was thinking of buying an OR. It was certainly convenient to be able to "wear" the bivy, cooking and other such chores were a snap. We had nice weather so I didn't get to see how the hood would withstand rain. I know he has said that he was miserable the one night he spent in the rain and now will only use it above snow level when we dig snowcaves. THAT is where the conveniences of the Cyclops really shine. Being Able to move around while keeping the melting snow off your sleeping bag is great. Customer Service REI rules. Excellent value. While shopping I found the other bags claustrophobic. The Cyclops has plenty of zippers and openings ot counter that feeling. However, snow did blow in the face opening during an October snowstorm in the Minarets. The color is atrocious. Although advertised with optional mosquito netting, I have been unable to verify it's existence. Customer Service You can't beat REI for service. I've returned year old Tevas with split soles no question asked. |
