DESCRIPTION

Find your way in the dark with the luminous dial on this compass. Liquid-filled compass has a sapphire jeweled bearing and a tungsten steel needle for accuracy. Large, notched bezel features 0-360 degree scale in 2 degree increments. Adjustable declination correction scale accounts for the difference between magnetic and true north; key on lanyard adjusts the scale for your area. Magnifying lens enlarges map details; anti-skid rubber pads help steady the compass on map surface.

Probably the best of the Suunto non-sighting compasses, the M-5DL is also known in the U.S. as the 'Contender' or 'Smokekiller' compass for its use by the Forest Service. In Europe it is known as the 'NATO' model and is issued to British military along with the Silva Type 4.
