The best thing about this stove is it's quiet. I mean *silent*. I hate sounding like I'm warming up the Batmobile when I'm boiling water in the woods. No, it doesn't heat as quickly as other fuels; yes, it uses more fuel (by half) to get the job done. But, it's safe, simple, bombproof, and gets the job done. did I mention it's *quiet*? (Be sure to use methyl alcohol, i.e. "Heet," etc. You'll get a much hotter, cleaner burn). Customer Service none needed. My trangia 28 is the older model (uncoated frypan/lid) and i've been using it for over 4 years now with excellent results. the beauty of the trangia stoves is in their simplicity- no moving parts, and nothing can go wrong with them. one does need to practice using it at home before taking it on a journey, mostly to get used to how much fuel to put into the burner for what's being boiled or cooked. also, a windshield is a definate must for this stove (i made one out of a foil cookie sheet. wraps around my fuel bottle) and it's a good idea to carry a small cloth inside the stove to wipe the bottom of the pot with after cooking (some light soot does develop. i just wipe off the loose stuff and let the pot blacken with time. aids heat transfer to boot) Similar Products Used: svea 123, svea 123R, optimus 99, optimus 8R, optimus 111B, optimus 80, primus 71, optimus 22B, coleman peak 1 (feather 400), esbit fel stove, trangia 25-7, trangia westwind, msr whisperlite shaker-jet, msr rapidfire |
