Probably one of the best introductory external frame packs on the market. I've used it anywhere from day hikes to thirty milers and it does it all. It is infinitely adjustable, and has worn well. Hard to beat in my books.

Kelty has never let me down. I'm in the process of buying a Slickrock internal frame pack in the next week and I'll let you know how it goes.

Classic external frame pack that will last. Great size allows for more gear than you'll want to carry. Strap locations on frame are adjustable to give you great comfort and good ventalation.

Plenty of room for external gear too. Once again, more places to lash onto than you should need.

It's a Kelty, so it'll last for years. I used my fathers Kelty that he bought over 30 years ago before this one. I tried others, but came back to Kelty.

Unless you are climbing and breaking new trail, stick with an external frame. Try it and you'll see why..

I bought my Kelty Treker used from a outdoor store's year end auction and haved used it for seven or eight years now. It's been a very reliable pack. I haven't experienced any malfunctions what so ever. I've used it on overnight weekend trips to local state parks with my family, long 3-4 day trips to Colorado, and solo hunting trips. When my kids were small I was the pack mule and I loaded the Trekker to maximum capacity and it handled it without any problems. My only complaint about the pack is its so noisy! It creaks and squeaks with every step when its loaded down. Contoued shoulder straps and load lifter straps would make it more comfortable on long treks.

Customer Service

I Have a Kelty Domolight 4 person tent that i've upgraded by replacing the original fiberglass poles with aluminum poles. The Kelty reps were helpful, although I couldn't purchase the poles directly from Kelty. They connected me with a mail order vender who was able to get me the poles I wanted. (Great tent for family excursions, especially if you divide it up amoung two or three people).
