A FANTASTIC headlamp! Have the choice of a bright bulb or a power-saving one is great as is the zoom feature. Two spare bulbs seems like a good idea too although I haven't needed mine yet. Similar Products Used: None |

This is one amazing head lamp, I bought it about five years ago when i was 13 and have never looked back. It has taken a hell of a beating and it still orks great. i like the lock for the on off switch my mates have lost pounds(or in your case dollars) on batteries because theirs comes on in their rucksack. The batery life is good considering the performance of the halogen bulb and the spare bulbs are great if one blows (I still havent used my spare halogen) If you see this on sale dont waste your time looking at others because this is the best you can buy. Great job petzl (the gri gris good to (belay device)) Similar Products Used: Never need any other headlamp |

Though expensive ($60), this is the headlamp to end all other headlamps. Waterproof (not water 'resistant'), one bright halogen bulb with adjustable focus for long range, one dim bulb for close range and to save on batteries, switch is lockable in the off position, case holds 2 spare bulbs, comfortable fit. I'm a flashlight nut, and this one is the best. Customer Service We have two of these. One was abused as far as storing, tugging on the wires, carrying it by the wires, etc. The wire connection going from battery box to lamp section became intermittent. We sent it in for repair (3 years after purchase), and received a brand new one 6 business days later, no questions asked, no cost. This is a nice, durable, dependable headlight. I like the versatility that the selectible light intiensity provides. It is somewhat heavy. If weight is a concern, you might step down to the Petzl Zoom. I would definitely stay with Petzl prodcts though! Very dependable. Overall a great headlamp with useful features like bright halogen light and a less bright krypton light that saves on energy. I also like the switch lock feature as i had my other maglite's torch accidentally switch on before while in the backpack. It's water resistant up to 150 feet too. I appreciate the fact that the battery console is at the back of the head, it's more balance that way!! Yeah it was a big problem and headache opening the unscrewing the headlamp.. But once u have open it once, it's easy to open it later!! So that solve the problem, u can also put some grease on it to loosen it up. Similar Products Used: None |

When buying outdoor gear I usually consider prices depending on what I buy. I may spend $300 on a backpack and only $10 on a stove. Seeing I had never owned a headlamp before, I first figured I'd pick up something cheap. Then I began reading about the DUO'S features and quickly realized that the extra money would definitely be worth it considering all the features chocked into it casing. Unlike other headlamps that use a standard or halogen bulb, it is not necessary to take it apart to switch the bulbs(just a quick flip of a switch.) Also included in the DUO are spare bulbs, which are housed behind the bulbs in use. The fact that it uses AAbatteries is great so you don't have to worry about a 4.5 volt running out of juice and needing recharged. Of course there is a rechargeable battery pack available for it too. Last but not least, the fact that it resists water and has a gasket around the lid for the battery casing makes it the flat out best headlamp money can buy Similar Products Used: None |

I can honestly say that spending a little extra didn't get me anything. I'm on to my third one now, but at least Petzl has great customer service. The 4 AA batteries don't have as much power as the 4.5V battery. Just look at the Petzl site. The duo using the halogen bulb lasts 2.5 hours. The standard with a halogen bulb last 6.5. The only advantage of the duo is being able to save battery power to make up for a weak battery. If your considering this light just try unscrewing the cover to the lightbulbs. Now try changing the bulb on a trail with gloves on! Good Luck! Customer Service Great customer service, they just keep giving me new ones. Similar Products Used: The good ol plain jane petzl |

After reading many reviews on various headlamps on Princeton Tec's and Petzl's over the internet. I decided to get Petzl Duo because of the great reviews others have given. Even though it's one of the most expensive headlamp out there, i have decided to get it because of it's feature like water resistant up to 150 feet and especially because of it's unique function like the ability to shift from a normal lamp to a super bright halogen lamp. These features suits my lifestyle as i climb mountains a lot sometimes in the dark and rainy weather. The Duo's function like the halogen lamp will serve me well when i trek at night especially when looking for right trails in the dark. Took it out for a night trekking a while ago and using it in the dark has convince me that i had made the right decision to choose this headlamp. It definitely shone brighter than my pals, i alternate between the lamps quite often using the halogen when i needed too. Definitely the Headlamp of headlamps. It sets a standard for others. My only regret is that i should have gotten this headlamp earlier like 6 years ago. It would have made my night trekkings and looking for trails much easier!!! I have had many flash lights like mini maglites, princeton tec blast and the past 1 and a half years i've been using my sisters Coleman headlamp. But i find the headlamp a bit heavy on the head as the lamp and the battery pack is together putting all the weight on the fore head!! I certainly appreciate that the battery console for my Duo is on the back of the head. It's more balance and comfortable for me!!! A simply great headlamp!!! Now i have to see whether the battery life lasts as long as specified!! The only downside of this lamp is the expensive tag!! But i guess good things don't come cheap!!!! Similar Products Used: Mini Maglites AA and AAA - Good flash light, quite water resistant. But the lights doesn't seem to last long. Have encountered many times with the light not able to function, but after a few shakes manage to get it working again!! This is true for my frens mini mags too!! |
