Excellent allround head torch.

Strengths - Adjustable, powerful beam.

Weaknesses - Not water proof, centre dark spot.

I use my head torch all the time, walking, caving. Never had a problem.

The zoom is a sweet little lamp. Its relatively small in size and although it takes 4 AA batteries, its light too. The straps are comfortable, and stretch to fit your head perfectly. The lamp turns on and off really easy by just a turn of the lamp itself. When you continue to turn the lamp it "zooms" from a narrow beam to a wide beam. It is really easy on batteries, I have had mine for about 6 months now and only changed them out once with a lot of use. I use it for everything from hiking, to doing stuff around the house when I need some extra light. The lamp also adjusts angle to go upwards, but the bummer is it will not angle down. I would prefer that the light beam was angled a little bit downwards to illuminate my walking path, and not the darkness directly in front of me.

Great headlamp! Best one out there for the price. 4.5 v batter is the best choice out there. I also have the adapter for 3aa batteries. The only thing i would of liked in this headlamp is that the batterie cover would be water tight, and not just water resistant.

This is a great headlamp with the ability to adjust from spot to wide lighting. I have a mid 90's model that has a continuous electrical connection problem. If using the 3 battery adapter I have to adjust the battery terminals every time new batteries are inserted. Otherwise, intermittant lighting occurs. I've been able to work with this problem for years, but it is still a pain at times.

A very stable lamp with good burn time, illumination, weight, and a goodly amount of H2O proofness.

I got this lamp many years ago for christmas from my parents. Since then it has gone to the desert in New Mexico, up a 14er in Co, and into many of PA's and WV's wettest and muddiest caves and with the exception of being a little dirty it is still in perfect condition.
Go out and buy one of these right now, you won't be sorry.

I have had my Zoom for four years and it has been a real trooper. I am still using the original bulb which is nice because this thing probably has 100 hours of use on it. I use the 4.5V battery most of the time because it lasts longer than the 3AA adaptor. My only complaint is that it has turned itself on in my pack before, leaving me with a dead battery. I disconnect the battery when I pack it now.

I've been using the same Zoom for 6-7 years now. It works great, but there are a few things to watch out for.
1. When you pack it - make sure to disconnect the batteries, or it may turn itself on in the backpack.
2. I have the older model which seem to have an intermittent problem with battery terminal getting loose on the AA adapter. As someone else noted, they sometimes have to be readjusted when changing bateries.
But the comfort and convenience are great.
