I found the Vor Tec a nice, bright headlamp with pretty good features. I might consider the "Solo" for backpacking, though, to keep weight in check, but one way to reduce weight on the Vor Tec was the use of Lithium batteries. They weigh half as much as traditional alkaline's, and can last up to 3X longer. A little pricier, but worth it.

As for the Vor Tec, I'd give it high marks for everything but weight.
