This is my first waterpack - previously used water bottles only - and it's an incredibly good idea, and simply superb at what it does, which is carry loads of water/juice, AND a lot of stuff. What more do you want? Plenty of capacity for day walks/cycles/trips to gym, and I use it EVERYWHERE! Good side pockets for my trainers, offcentre-zipped front compartment, with plenty of sub pockets, and the main compartments opens VERY VERY wide.... I love it. £65 well spent. I love this bag! After owning a small camelbak (one with only space for the bladder) and realizing how great an invention these are, I decided to purchase one that would double as a day pack as well. The Rim Runner was the perfect fit. I use the pack for every thing from carring climbing gear to running around town. I like the 3 liter bladder, enough water for extended hikes. As mentioned in another review, the air channels work surprisingly well. Your back will feel noticably cooler. I hope that everyone looking for a hydration pack will consider the Rim Runner. It is a winner. Customer Service Have not needed to call. Similar Products Used: Other camelbaks. |

The other reviewer is correct, it comes with a 100 oz (3 liter) capacity. This bag is simply amazing. I use it for many things. Let me give you an idea of this thing''s capacity. On a recent caving adventure I had my Petzl Explorer helmet and Petzl acetyl-gas generator securely fashioned on the outside of the pack. The nylon mesh pockets held my two Seal-Line water proof bags. I then used the outside cinch straps to hold those bags even more securely. Inside the pack I put my Meander caving coveralls, an extra pair of pants, an extra shirt, extra socks, a gortex jacket, 2 extra AA flashlights, extra batteries, 2 long elbow pads, 2 long knee pads, 4 stripped down MREs, a simple first aid kit, 1 topographical map, extra lamp bulbs in a plastic tackle case, a water filtration unit, and a couple of contractor quality 33 gallon trash bags. They should have called this the Camelbak Yak. It is by far and away my favorite day pack. I also use the pack to haul around my textbooks at the university. I also use the pack to carry some top rope / rappelling gear. In order to pack everything well, you must purchase some 2 or 2.5 gallon zip-lock bags. Use these bags as compression bags. When you do this, you can put an amazing amount of stuff in the Rim Runner. This pack is perfect for day hiking. The quality of construction is very good. The air channel actually works; it keeps your back from overheating when you have a heavy load. The 100 oz reservoir is accessible from the OUTSIDE of the pack, so there is no need to unpack your gear in order to fill up! The water stays cool for a long long time. If you want it- get it! Day Hiker
First, the pack is 100 oz, not 70 oz, which is important. I use this pack at least 3 times a week, primarily when cycling/hiking. When cycling it stores spare tubes/tools/etc., and when hiking I usually toss in some type of snack, and occassionally a jacket. A recent trip to San Diego made great use of the capacity of the pack to hold lots of snacks, plus jackets for myself and my 2 little girls. Also, the new large opening/Omega reservoir is an excellent advantage over the competition. I can hold it right under my ice dispensor at the fridge, and just load it up with ice very quickly and easily. As to the pack, it has excellent capacity for use as a day pack. Looking at the alternative products (from Camelbak), I think this one is darn near perfectly sized. It''s bigger than many of the ones marketted for cyclists, but smaller than the ones marketted for long day hikers. I think it''s big enough to be used to pack lunch for at least 4 people, plus a med kit, your jacket, camera, etc. Pretty much everything you''d want to put in it on a long day hike. I can''t see what you''d need one of the bigger packs for. And it''s not heavy, so using it as an overkill small pack shouldn''t be a concern. I gave 4 stars on value, because these packs really are overpriced. Considering what it must cost to manufacture the product, it should cost more the $50 to buy them. But once you get over the cost, it is a really great pack. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: N/A |
