Love it. Bought it for myself, but now my wife usually uses it and I carry a Jansport Rockies. The cool thing is that it adjusts very well for either one of us, and there is a lot of difference! :-) I can't remember if the price I quoted is exactly what I paid or not, but I do remember that STP gave us a great deal on it. I have no gripes about this pack.

I have owned my peregrine for over five years. It has seen everything from deep Louisianna bayou to Colorado Peaks over 13,000 and has carried gear on both overnighters and week+ trips. I am a small woman (5'3", 98lbs) and finding appropriate backpacking gear has always been a challenge. The excellent adjustability of the peregrine along with its various pockets and dividers allows for not only a good fit, but the flexibility to balance my load well. I have only had to make one repair in the past five years - when I slipped and busted one of the buckles on a rock. The hip belt is very comfortable and secure. One of the earlier reviews mentions creaking - I have not noticed this. All in all, I would give this pack two thumbs up. It is a dependable, thoughtfully engineered pack perfect for any smaller person who travels light (the most I've carried in mine was 45lbs and that was pushing the limit).

Customer Service

Haven't had to deal with Jansport - pack is as good as the day I bought it five years ago(plus some dirt).

I've been using the Jansport Peregrine 52 for weekend wilderness trips and also for day hikes to various summits. The hip belt is the best I've ever seen. The dual webbing on the waste belt (as part of their EZV buckle) keeps the belt wrapped over your hip bone. All other waste belts I've seen have a single web and no matter how tight you cinch them down, the belt still slides down your backside. Jansport really has something neat here. I also really like the large side access panel. On the trail I often feel like I'm opening a suitcase to access my stuff rather than having to disturb my load by rooting around from the top. The only downsides of the pack are that the built-in bottom lashing straps seem weak for anything more than a sleeping pad and the shoulder-belt suspension creaks a bit when cruising down the trail with the pack heavily loaded. (However, I just realized after my last trip that I may have the load-lifter straps rigged wrong, which may be allowing the creaking.) Overall an excellent weekend/day pack for on and off trail, and for a good price to boot!

This pack is awsome! I bought one for my wife and I, and we both love it. We originally bought them for weekend trips to visit family (I hate checking luggage)and was so impressed we are taking up backpacking. The packs are compfortable, easy to use, and very efficient.

The first pack that I ever owned was a Jansport external frame pack. I never really forgot how well it served me. While I liked that pack, this one is much better in terms of construction and well thought out compartments. I fell in love with the organizer that is built into the pack. It has the standard lid pocket, rain hood and panel load as well as top load ability that most internal frame backpacks have these days. When it comes to the suspension system I was unable to adjust it to fit me well. On the other hand, my wife had no problem adjusting it and getting it to fit her. From her point of view it was the most comfortable pack she had ever put on. I’m not sure what made the difference since she is only two inches shorter than me. Based on the way that it fit the two of us I would say that this may not be the best choice for a husky adult but may be an excellent pack for a more average size person or smaller framed person. After a short hike of about five miles the pack still fit her well with none of the adjustments loosening up or any other problems. A night of camping and back another seven miles and the only thing she could say about it was that it was still the best fit the she had ever had in a backpack. The 3200 cubic inch volume makes this more of a weekend pack than anything else but it is apparently an excellent pack for just such a trip. This is a fine example of why you should always try on a pack first to see that it fits you well. I couldn’t get it comfortable on me and it was an excellent fit on her.

I'm a BEGINNER backpacker planning my 2nd summer trip but looking forward to many more. Just bought this pack because the borrowed pack from last year was an ex. frame and not "up-to-date". This is a good pack (at least I think so) but I had similar confusion with the rain cover. Is there supposed to be an accompanying cover? Lots of features that will be a bigger help off the trail that I'll use going to camp and on vacation. All things considered, sturdy and fairly well priced. Even if and when I go up to another pack, I'll still be able to use this one.

Customer Service

Like I said, should there be a rain cover? Should there have been one provided?

This is a great mid-sized pack. It is very adjustable so it's easy to get a good fit. The Peregrine has a very efficient layout. There are enough pockets to organize gear, but not too many for a pack this size. The ability to access the main compartment through the panel is a great feature- it is like having a separate compartment.

There are several compression straps for securing the load and positioning it correctly. These combined with the external lashing points allow for easy attaching of gear to the outside. Also, the hip belt tightening feature is very convenient.

The Peregrine is comfortable both on and off trail. It is great for technical day and weekend trips.

Customer Service

Customer service was very responsive. I emailed them on a Friday and has an answer to my question by the following Monday

The most comfortable pack I have ever
worn. It says that it is a 3200 ci but
it holds more. A funny note, when I purchased it I was comparing it to a
North Face 3200. I took the display air
bag that was in the Jansport and tried
to put it in the North Face, it wouldn't
fit. I really like Jansports V belt on
this pack as well. It has little fold
over pouches inside the flap that I think just add weight but someone else
might find them convienient. A rugged
pack I'll continue to use for years.

Customer Service

Yes, their website mistakenly indicated
that this pack comes with a rain cover and when I asked them why my didn't, they sent me a cover and thanked me for pointing out the error at their site.
