Overall this is a very good pack with some quality improvements over earlier storm series packs. One of the problems that some people have had with Kelty packs has been the quality of the stitching. On long trecks or after several trips some of the straps have come loose. One of my partners has experienced this problem before and sworn off Kelty because of it. This product has visibly better stitching and even he was impressed with how well the straps were attached. The pack is roomy, easy to adjust and comfortable to wear. On a long hike only had two complaints. One was that the sternum strap worked it''s way up my chest from where I prefer to have it and the other is that the adjustment straps on the hip belt slowly loosened themselves if I were doing a lot of bending at the waiste (like scrambling in the rocks). Both of these problems were solved with a quick application of pieces of velcro and I tried it again. That was all it took to make the next trip perfect. I like the pack and enjoyed travelling with it. It could be a bit lighter weight but to get a lighter weight pack of this size you usually pay quite a bit more. The bottom line is that when you look at the performance of the pack and the price that you have to pay for it then this is an excellent buy.

Customer Service

While I have not had to deal with Kelty Customer service on this pack, it has been some of the best around in the past.

I really like my Hurricane pack! Recently spent two days solo hiking Savage Gulf and, after only a minor adjustment to the frame sheet, the 38lb pack felt like a part of me. Kelty products are some of the very best for the money, if you want to spend $300 and up for a pack, be my guest. But for fit, comfort, durability and performance at economical cost Kelty can't be beat. Hike safely...hike with the Lord!

Before buying the Hurricane, I used a Kelty Tioga external that I really liked. With the Tioga, the opening to the main compartment is very roomy and there is a pocket for your water bladder. It is an excellent external frame pack.

The kelty hurricane is a great pack. it is my first internal frame so it seems really nice. The only thing that I dont like is that the water bottles are hard to get back in the water bottle holders. Other wise it is a great pack for the money.

Very good pack, 5 minutes for perfect fit with a full load. Dark interior colour makes grabbing stuff a little difficult in the shade. Very comfortable, adjustable, compressable, and a great deal to boot. Lots of space for a week in the summer or long weekend in the winter.

This is my second internal frame and third pack overall. I'm very pleased with the way that this bag performed. It fits your body like a glove, is easy to adjust, has nice clean lines and has plenty of room in spite of what the other three reviews might say. This pack can easily take you out for a week or more-I mean come on, it has 4700 ci. for crying out loud. The only thing that I didn't like about it was it's single main compartment. It would be nice if it had a zippered divider as well as an access panel at the bottom.

Nice pack for the price. I have used it a couple of times. Rides well, more than enough room for 1-2 day hikes. Could pack enough for a week if you packed wisely. It does need more outside pockets.

Very comfortable suspension - carried 35 lbs. with no problems. Easy fit adjustment - spent all of 10 minutes getting proper fit. More than adequate for two or three day trips. Could use more than the 2 pockets provided, though. My first internal frame pack.

My first internal pack. Carries well, comfortable hip belt. I have low back problems and found this pack even rides well with heavy load. Good weekend pack. Could pack for a week if weathers warm and you don't need to bring the extras for the cold. I didn't have a lot of money to experiment and make a mistake. Got a good value.
