Bought this pack couple years ago to use as a day pack. Took it everywhere - from Europe to Alaska. Looks good enough for cities and carries everything you need for a day hike with the family. In most cases I carry all the food/water/jackets/cameras, etc. It has enough pockets to keep little things organized. The main thing – it’s right size for me and it fits well. May be too big for day use for some but it compresses well with 4 straps and I like having extra space. Customer Service Did not need any. |

The Redwing that is pictured is not the current model. I am reviewing the old one. Many people have touched on some of the weaknesses of this pack, and most reviewers seem happy with it. I also like it. I bought mine 7 years ago and it has served flawlessly since. The reasons that some people think that it is not really a good multi-day pack are quite simple: The shoulder straps are sewn directly to the top of the pack so no back length adjustment is possible. It fits or it doesn't. 2. As the straps connect to the top of the pack, there are no load lifters to bring the load closer to your body. Mine fits, so I really like it. If the back length is a little off, keep on looking for another pack. If you fit it, then go for it. For those of you who are always using load lifters, their absence is well compensated for with the four compression straps on the sides. For the price, you really can't go wrong. Customer Service Never needed them. Similar Products Used: Gregory, Serratus, Mountain Equipment Co-op and Camp Trails. |

I just got this pack, but i already love it. The padding is very generous, and the frame sits well on my back. I use it for school and for day hikes and long biking trips. It works great and it is big enough to fit a kitchen sink. Kelty makes great stuff and anything you buy from them will last you forever.one last thing, This pack can fit a lot more than the specified size, because of the many external attachment points. I have the 2,900 in3 model. This pack is very comfortable with well padded shoulder pads. The wast belt is excellent. I carry about 20 pounds in the pack on a long day hike. Lots of pockets for your keys, first aid supplies, wallet, water bottles, etc. It has two side pockets, two front pockets and a large back pocket. I have a 1.5 liter pouch water container in the hydration slot in the large pocket. Similar Products Used: None |

I bought this pack for my Long's Peak hike this summer. I have to agree with most reviews saying this pack is great for a one day hike. I dont think I could have bought a more suitable pack for the 14hour hike of Long's. It was so comfortable that I didn't even know I was carrying it half the time. Or was I just too exhausted to care?!?! Similar Products Used: None |

Looking over the reviews, it seems like people who buy this pack expecting a daypack are pleasantly surprised and those who buy expecting the 1-2 day pack (as Kelty markets it) are sometimes disappointed. As for my experience: Similar Products Used: Kelty Mistral -- this is such an improvement. Various other Jansport and such. Redwing is the pick of the crop. |

I've had this pack for three years now. It's a good beginner's pack. I've taken it overnight on four occasions, and if you don't pack too heavy, it's okay. I took it on an overnighter recently and pushed it to its limits with about a 25 lb. load. My shoulders and back were killing me after 6.5 miles. This pack doesn't have a good harness and waist belt to support the amount it is capable of carrying. Similar Products Used: Arcteryx Bora 62 |
