Usage: Nice pack for 3-4 days hiking (I use it in tropical climate) - though sometimes I feel that larger size is better. Pros: * Excelent back system (damn fit on me!!! - 6ft tall) * Lightweight * Good accessibility of the stuff inside * Two water bottle pocket (I like this very much - I use one of 'em for my tent pole) * Detachable daypack with large pocket Cons: * Lower compression strap is overlap with waterbottle mesh pocket. * Sometimes weight distribution is a little bit far form my back (but I can manage this so far). * Lack of D-ring on shoulder strap - think this will serve well for various usage

I bought this pack (lg) to replace a large external frame pack I used to lug around, and I use it mostly for 3-day trips. The pack is very well-made and comfortable to wear on long hikes. The Bio-span is a great feature that keeps the pack snug to your back. You have to pack wisely in order to get your favorite extra goodies in there. However, with 3200 cubic inches you still have enough room for 3-4 day trips in summer. The Glissade can easily manage the same number of days in winter by leaving your tent at home and using a tarp, put your clothes in a stuff sack attached to the bottom of the pack...(I'm talkin' winter in the southeast).
The outer pocket detaches and converts into a nice day-pack that can be used for other outdoor activities as well. Day pack is attached with quick clips for semi-easy removal. Side straps allow you to cinch the pack tight. The Glissade is great for us backpackers who like to go lightweight. However, you Ultra-lightweight freaks need to stay away because the large weighs in around 4lbs 12oz. The two water bottle pockets are conveniently located. The padded sunglasses pocket is a major plus. The frame sheet is a good thing too, the pack keeps its form. There are also plenty of ways to attach extra gear if needed. Although it is a panel loader I have not had any problems with the zipper. The only problem is that you may earn the nickname "Ninja Turtle" if you stuff the outside/daypack pocket full of stuff.
Overall it is a great pack for my type of use.

I bought this pack a year ago and have only done the lightest
camping trips where I could have used half the pack. I waited until I really had a chance to break it in before writing this. Well, I just got back from a 3 day stay in the Grand Canyon and I can say this pack worked well. It was perhaps slightly smaller than I needed, of course many people think thats just the right size as not to bring too much junk. In order to have room, I got two compression straps and ran them through the slots on the bottom to hold my tent. My poles went in the Ice Axe loop. It was very comfortable for the 6 hour trek down the Hermit Trail. The trail is an unmaintained jumble of VERY steep switchbacks and unrepaired rock-slides. I was worried about balance because when you fill this pack it stands a good distance from your back. (be careful when you turn around, you may hit somebody!) But it didn't pose the problems I thought it would. I just made sure to keep light stuff in the far back. Anyway, the straps worked well to control the load, and the pocket design allows good organization and quick access to important gear. I like the water bottle holders and the "beaver tail" style of the back pocket. It adds versatility. Overall, a nice solid pack that keeps you from bringing the kitchen sink.

Customer Service

Haven't used customer servise as this pack has performed as expected. No rips/snags/flaws, etc.
