Love this backpack. Very comfortable on the waist and shoulder. Very expandable. So many straps that nothing would mover even if you roll down the hill. I bought the ~3400 cubic cm one, and it is big! Definitely for longer trips with lots of stuff. Too big for a day trip.

Overall, this has been a good pack. I've taken it on weekend climbing trips and managed to get all my gear into it. I'm quite small-framed and shopped around quite a bit for a pack that would fit me right. I spent an hour traipsing around REI with every conceivable sort of gear strapped to the Spectrum, and it was definitely my favorite of the packs I've tried. Its size, however, has thrown me a little off-balance when it's fully loaded. I'm hoping I'll be able to tweak it a little bit to make it a more secure fit. The waist belt hits just right, which is nice. I love all the pockets and gear loops and stuff.

Great pack for just about anything. I have mostly used it lately on some mountaineering type trips and it is awesome. Incredibly confortable while climbing, glisading, backpacking, even skiing. The outside pockets and features like daisy chains, bungee cord thingie, etc. make it easy to carry all your gear. And I got it cheap from Sierra Trading Post so even better. Good overall value.

After 12years I finally decded to retire my old pack. I got the Spectrum after looking at quite a few others. I like its' expandability, the easily accessable side pockets, which are perfect for snacksand maps and compass. The first time I hit the trail with it I thought that I had owned it and broken it in for years. It was comfortable right from the start. Great suspension system.

This pack has worked great from the outset. My old pack finally gave up the ghost. I went to TNF Outlet here in San Diego and picked this up for cheap. Can't say enough about the outside pockets, H2O bladder, etc. It all works and is still nimble under a heavy load. I'm 6'3" @ 200lbs and the large fits me like a glove!

Great backpack! Got it for $175 through Sierra Trading Post. It has about 1/2 dozen outside pockets that make it easy to get to a mini-stove, H2O purifier, water bottle, etc. Easy loading for sleeping bag, Top can be turned into fanny pack to balance weight, and back cushion/support is great.

I bought this bag for my wife, but of course i had to try it out. it fits close to my back for a bag this size and that makes me feel alot more stable. the hydration pack is well placed for weight distribution, but if it leaks, bad news. the sleeping bag compartment has an internal drawstring top so it will fit any sized bag. it was also on clearance at rei for 149.00. what a bargain! the hipbelt fit me a little funny, but it is the womens model and my wife says that it fits her better than any pack she's ever tried.

Customer Service

rei adjusted it for her and did a great job.
