I bought these boot last March for use during my regular backpacking trips and my trek at the Philmont Scout Ranch. The boots had almost no break in time and are very light weight. I backpack in the Dolly Sods area among other, which has very rocky, harsh terrain. These boot felt great the entire time through all my trips. At the camo I work at they performed flawlessly through 3 weeks of non stop rain and constant mud. Finally the big test was Philmont. This place has all terains ranging from easy trailsw, to steep scree slopes, to rock scrambling. Throught the 11-day trek I had no problems at all. In fact, I was the only one of my crew not to get a blister. I love these boots and would recommend them to any backpacker who wants comfort and durability. The Cordura on the sides helps protect them from sharp rocks while the Gore-tex keeps you dry. Great boots. I got these boots at the begining of last summer. I did a lot of hiking, backpacking, and mountain climbing/scrambling throughout the summer here in Idaho. By the end of this hiking season the tread was completely gone, leaving me with slick shoes, and the toe box has a large hole in each boot. I quickly found out that these boots aren't made for scrambling up rotten rock for many thousands of vertical feet (the glissading down didn't help either), but the boots did get me to the top of every peak over 12,000 feet in the state. A good, light trail hiker's shoe, but not a mountain climber's. I loved the lightness. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: N/A |

I got these boots because I couldn't find much else (of quality) in a wide width. I needed them for my job, where I do a lot of walking in the woods. I'm a park ranger. So far they haven't disapointed me a bit, but don't let anyone lie to you about break in period. They needed one. The first couple days I had "hot-spots" all around my feet, especially if I was sitting still such as driving or sitting in a canoe. However, after they broke in (just a few days' wear) they are great. They are light, and provide acceptable traction on wet red clay even. I haven't worn them to wade rivers or anything like that, but they kept my feet dry during ordinary rain. I would recomend them for anyone wanting a good light boot. Only problem I have is the styling. I would say they are overstyled. I prefer a simpler appearance. Customer Service REI knows customer service. The woman on the phone was more than helpful. They have become my first stop for anything. Similar Products Used: Had a pair of Merril light hikers once but don't remember what type. They fell apart quickly. Had a pair of Vasque highlanders for many years, only recently retired them when I had that 30-something year old foot spread and they were suddenly too short. I was going for vasque again until I read the latest customer reviews on their stuff |

Profile: Size 8, D-width foot with neutral gait but flat arch Pros: they look amazing, comfortable but not cushy, great stability (up to ~ 50lb. pack weight), fairly light and nimble for a boot, not a big deal but laces stay put once tightened, treadwear is good, rubber offers good traction, durable design Cons: could use a deeper tread for mud and snow I've had these boots for about 4 years or so. Before being called the FSN 95's, they were called the Fusion 100's. While my boots look identical to the current version's, there isn't a gore-tex liner. The amazing thing about these boots is that you feel really nimble and stable backpacking or hiking, so much so that they now have become my everyday footwear (I can honestly run in these boots but I wouldn't recommend these to replace your runners). However, if you plan on carrying heavy-loads while backpacking then get a more stable boot. I plan on replacing these boots this year...perhaps with the same pair. Customer Service none. I wore these boots on a three day trip through the Smokys this August. The trails were very rocky and rough in the section we hiked (Madron Bald, Snake Den Ridge area). I weigh 175 and was carrying a 35 pound pack. When we got to camp on that second afternoon my feet were VERY sore. I also have thin, bony feet so I ALWAYS get blisters. There is no boot that can hold my foot completely locked in with no slippage, even with liner socks and the works. That said, I still think these boots are an excellent buy. They fit very well and are very waterproof due to the Gore-Tex. I haven't had any problems with them falling apart yet. I would suggest getting a pair of really good insoles - the ones that come with these boots are not good at all. They are thin as a piece of paper. Customer Service Haven't needed it yet. I bought these because they won the boot of the year award from some magazine. I really don't like them all that much. Way too narrow in the toebox. Very little cushioning in the sole. The tread wears very quickly. Good thing is they support well for their weight. Customer Service No experience Similar Products Used: Trying out the Merrel Pulse. Much more comfortable. |

I just got back from my first backpacking trip to the West Canyon on Lake Powell and this was by far the best piece of equipment I brought. My feet are not in the least bit sore and I only wore the boots a few days around town before going on the hike to break them in. The boots worked well in a variety of terrain including slogging through pools of waist-high water. I was carrying a 40 lb pack and seemed to have plenty of support. The boots come highly recommended by me. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: None |

These boots work well for light hiking and short back packing trips. However, on a longer back packing trip (>15km) the soles are not beefy enough. I found out on a 25km hike on which I ended up switching to my Tevas to avoid the pain from the inadequate sole. Ouch! |

I bought these shoes and wore them in for a week walking around campus before a climbing trip to North Carolina. Last day of climbing trip and the sole delaminated from the shoe. I sent them back to the seirra trading post and was unable to get a new pair cause they were out and Asolo had them discontinued. |

I purchased these boots because I was looking for a light weight water proof boot (my heavy weights are Zamberlains). I use these boots for snowshoeing, moderate backpacking/hikes and when the weather's bad in Colorado. I am extremely safisfied with my purchase and highly recommend them. Customer Service I was very satisfied with EMS's customer service. Similar Products Used: Sorry but I'm limited to 1200 characters! |
