I purchased a pair of Danner Lights about 5 years ago. They have been my primary shoe ever since. Hiking, backpacking, work, running around town, these boots have been great. But they have finally worn out. :(

I will probably send them back to Danner for reconditioning. I love these boots so much I have been trying for days to find a local dealer with which to replace them with. :(

I destroy shoes. Before I bought my Danner's I would be lucky if a boot would last me six months. I also have large feet 12 EE.

The only complaint that I had with these boots was the lack of arch support, but they are designed to be used with inserts. I purchased some Superfeet inserts and that made these boots perfect.

I have used them in the desert, the beach, mountains, forests, jungle, swamps, you name it. They are a little hot for the desert but not bad. They are not quite warm enough for snow.

If you are looking for a comfortable, durable, all purpose, hiking boot, these are great.

I bough these boots from a local retailer for $175. I have a narrow, low volume foot, which these fit perfect with my hiking socks on. (a wide version of this boot is made) After the initial break in (about a week of wearing them everyday) they are very comfortable. I only have two complaints. Arch support is lacking and insoles must be purchased to provide adequate support high arches. The other is a seam in the tongue of the boot runs right across the top of the foot and rests on the bone right above the arch. If the boots are laced tightly, before break-in, it becomes very uncomfortable very quickly. After break, the problem resolves itself.
Overall, a good midweight boot with good fit for narrow feet. Also a good value (most compereble models with stitch down soles were $40+ than regular price)

I got my Danner's a few years ago when they were selling by Eddie Bauer here in Michigan. They have been the best pair of boots I have ever had. Very comfortable and indestructable. As the other person said though they are a little heavy. But that is the price you pay for the ultimate in durability, and I do mean the ultimate. I don't think that Danner sells to Eddie Bauer any more though? If they read this you have my vote to do business with them again. I think that you are both great companies and I buy alot of my stuff from Eddie Bauer. They have kinda gone fluff over the years though.

Fantastic boot. Used for week long backpacks, day hikes, peak scrambling, even put crampons on them and climbed Mt Shasta. Lite, incredibly durable, waterproof, and comfortable for low volume feet. Best of all they were fairly cheap!

had these boots for quite a few years now and they are solid! mine are actually a limited edition pair that have suede instead of nylon, but the rest is mostly the the same. i love the vibram soles. they grip anything and don't wear out. they are replaceable too and that means overall your boots will last longer. they are a little heavy and expensive but they last and they feel great.
