A very stout boot. It works very well in snow with a pack on or on technical ground. Vertical ice and mixed terrain are much more pleasant with leather than plastic and these are no exception. Takes crampons with no problem. My feet didn't get too cold in temps down to -40F while ice climbing last winter. My only gripe is having to slightly readjust them every time I lace them up, especially the tongue system.

These are the highest quality leather mountaineering boots I have come across to date. I use them primarily for steep snow, vertical ice, and glacier travel. Extremely weatherproof--double leather layers and super-high rubber rands. Full shank vibram sole makes for efficient front pointing on ice and sole accepts crampons with a super-tight fit (I use Charlet Moser Grade 8 mono's which just pop right on these boots like they were made for them). I've never had a problem with my feet being too cold in these, and that's down to -70 wind chill. They are a bit heavy as heavy duty mountaineering boots go, and the full shank sole makes for strenuous scree / trail hiking, but if you stick to snow and ice you'll love these boots for all their worth. Finally, the best part about these boots is their construction and craftsmanship. These are the only leather boots you'll find with triple stitched seams, double thickness leather, and beefy double-riveted lace hanks all the way up. These things will NEVER fall apart. By one pair of these and they'll be the last one's you buy FOREVER. Not the case with Lowa, La Sportiva, and Salomon. GREAT boots for snow and ice.
