These boots rip. I used them while doing an inventory of power poles in West Virginia. They encountered stuff that I've never put a pair of boots through even in the worst backpacking conditions. I had to alternate them with another pair of boots though, as they were of couse wet from sweat, (90 degree weather in summer)and fording the occasional river.
