I use these boots (Low version) for daily hiking in the warm months in Michigan. I find them most useful and comfortable for hiking on the hard-packed trail areas of parks.... they are light and function more like a sturdy running shoe which allows me to hike at a much faster pace (keeping the pulse rate up, etc.)Overall the boot is very light, cool, and comfortable.... they are my favorites for casual use. Like any lightweight hiker they wear out really fast, (7-8 months) losing all their tread on the bottom. As far as support goes I replace them after a few months to prevent my foot from splitting in half while walking on rocky ex-railroad paths. Things get really dicey traction-wise when trying to hike on muddy trails and hills. The boot was designed for light use and it delivers in that regard 100%. For deep mud, snow, I switch to an all-leather, full-length steel shank backpacking boot for support and traction. Similar Products Used: L.L. Bean Mountain Guides L.L. Very good lightweight boot for short to medium day hikes (up to 15 mi.) with light pack. Water proof. Good fit with my wide, low volume foot, but took some fooling around with different socks, tongue pad, and inner soles. Decent traction and stability in rocky New England with tree roots, etc. Similar Products Used: None |

This is a lot of boot for the money! Gore-tex lining with breahtable mesh panels, nice tread and fairly light-weight. Had to examine what kind of hiking I really do (extended day hikes in a humid atmoshpere with stream crossings) and these were perfect. They'll also work for a nice weekend backpack trip. These boots, and one other from L.L.Bean, both had same problem. To avoid excessive movement at heel that causes rubbing and blisters, you have to tie the laces so tightly that they cut into the tops of your feet. Similar Products Used: None |

These boots are very uncomfortable. Any hike greater than 8 miles caused me pain and blisters in many places in my feet. I'm looking to switch brands after a waste of money. I've done much better in the past on the trail in tennis or basketball shoes. I wouldn't recommend these boots. |

I had these boots for a while and I thought they were well constructed but and had pretty good support. When I went on a week long trip with them my feet were in pain because there was not enough support for extended use. They are very waterproof and durable and I recommend them for day hikes or overnights! Customer Service No need Similar Products Used: EMS Ascents, Montrail AT |

I like these boots for hiking in the area state parks and for long walks with my dog. They seem to be holding up well and they fit my wide feet well also. I think they are a good value for a good quality boot. We have been buying gear from Bean for a number of years and have allways been pleased with their service. I would buy these boots again Customer Service We have been buying items from Bean for several years and have allways been pleases with the service. We plan to continune to burchased items from them in the future. Similar Products Used: None |

I've had these boots for a few years and find them to be very comfortable for most usuges. They were meant for day hikes but I have used them for a multi-day backpack trip with a loaded pack up in Baxter State Park and they suvived. I could have asked for more support, but they weren't meant for that. The waterproofing has worn out. My feet do occasionally get wet nowadays. Overall, they have been fine for the price. They seem to be a better value than many bigger names. Ofcourse, one of the bigger names does produce these products for Bean. Note: These boots do not fit narrow feet well. I have very narrow feet and use the L.L. Bean thick insoles with okay results. Customer Service The people are great but some may not be as knowledgeable as a smaller retail shop who specialize in their respective categories. Typically I do a good bit of aimless wandering around in the thick woods scouting for good hunting locations. These boots have worked well for me for two seasons, so far. What can you say about the cost of these boots - can't beat it. They perform well here in the warm, humid environment. Fairly light boot with good fit makes for reliable gear. Other Comments: Fantastic customer service. They'll bend over backwards to keep the customer happy.
