I bought my Merrell Guide boots last year at a scratch and dent sale. They fit better than much more expensive boots. I have used them constantly year round camping and hiking the North Shore of Superior and all over the state of Minnesota. These boots perform well in snow, mud, and on rocks. The ankle support is great and the soles shed mud easily. My only complaint is that they are not newmatic compatible, otherwise they would make excellent light mountaineering boots. Buy them if you can find them. Similar Products Used: Echo classic Nike ACG |

These boots are really durable and about as waterproof as could be expected. I took them up to Cape Scott Park for a camping trip over New Years after buying them on boxing day. Needless to say, it rained the whole time but they stayed dry for the first couple of days. Anyway, my only complaint about the boots is the lacing system. After 5 months of use, one of the lace eyelets was torn right off the boot during a mild hike. Shortly thereafter on a climbing trip, another of the eyelets was destroyed. So my recommendation to anyone who's thinking about buying these boots is that if you're doing anything that will be demanding on the boots, don't buy them. The lacing system leaves something to be desired. |

I bought these boots because they seemed sturdy enough to handle anything....not too mention they were 50% off. They took a little getting used to due to the ski boot type rigidity(in the beginning). I took them on a six night winter camping trip to Mt. Rainer. In fourteen feet of snow....they not only strapped well onto my snow shoes, but they were great just hanging around the snow shelter. I can''t wait to try them out this summer. I don''t know why these boots are not even on the Merrell website? If you can buy these for anything near the deal I got...do not hesitate. None I have used these boots twice now and found them to be great. They have better ankle support than previous boots I have used and a stiffer sole which has taken me a while to get used to. The lacing system is excellent. The rubber toe bumper is appreciated. The boots really lived up to their waterproof label when I used them on my last trek which was through miles of two feet deep wet snow. Similar Products Used: Salomon Adventure 8 |

None I bought these boots this Summer and have been surprised by them. My last boots were Montrail Moraine AT(feet grew) and Scarpa Manta''s(these boots were just to tough for me to break in. These Merrell boots are I feel a happy medium between the last two boots I have tried. They are not overly stiff like the Scarpa''s and maybe just a tad if not just as stiff as the Montrails. All of my hiking and backpacking is offtrail in the Colorado Rockies so I needed something that would be rugged and give me the support needed. For some reason these boots seem hard to find, I dont know why I think they are great and on par with the Grand traverse boots also by Merrell. I did try them both on and found the Guides to fit my feet better and an added bonus was they were cheaper. If you want a stiff rugged boot that still allows a bit of flexibility then give these boots a try. I have hiked all summer, about 100 miles so far and have had no problems.
