It's worth the price! I've been using this for five years at my work as an upholstery cleaner. It's an all-around shoe that you can use not only in hiking. Highly recommended! Weakness:
None at all. Purchased: Used

Day Hiker
After a short break in period (fifty hours? mostly on dirt paths, a bit on Chicago streets) and less than ten days on the admittedly VERY rough trails of the Guadalupe Mountains National Park, these boots have ALREADY lost a lot of their tread. One more trip in similar conditions and I wouldn't trust them in situations demanding a lot of traction. Moreover, they've never quite broken in. Persistent though mild blistering, and continued problems constriction in the toe area. With a lot of moleskin and Permian Reef scenery to look at, I found the discomfort bearable, otherwise I'm thinking mostly about my feet. But maybe for people with differently shaped feet? Walking in the earthier parts of the Appalachians? Customer Service Fully satisfactory |

Most comfortable shoes I've ever owned, but after only 10 months of light hiking in the Oregon wilderness, the soles are worn. The rest of the shoe still appears to be in new condition though. If they can solve the sole issue, these would be the best boots I've purchased. Customer Service I mailed the shoes in 3 days ago for a replacement, or an upgrade to the next shoe up which can be resoled. I'll post back if the experience was negative. |

After more than 5 years of consistently getting blisters from my uber-expensive, much-touted Vasque boots, I decided to go back to a brand I'd had much success with: Merrel. Best decision I ever made. Despite having only a week of sporadic wear, I made the strenuous 18 mile Half-Dome hike with no blisters whatsoever! Couple thei comfort with a unique sole that extends up into the toe and heel areas (providing superior grip on even loose gravel) and you have an outstanding pair of boots. Just as with my first pair 10 years ago, Merrel has impressed me again. Customer Service in several years of being a Merrel customer, I've never had to call customer service.
