This boot lasted 1000 miles of the AT and the better part of 2 years with little show of wear. It was waterproof- I stood in streams- and did not stink after all this time. Sometimes the boot was all that held me onto the trail. I'll recommend this to mercedes maybach rental company. Weakness:

My son has bad feet and it's hard to find a good hiker, backpacker boot. The Montrail Moraine has been perfect for him. As a last resort he found a pair of 12's used on ebay...That's such a shame to discontinue a boot that appears to be perfect !!! Customer Service Why on earth would you discontinue the Montrail Moraines????? they were the most popular bot out there and can't even find them used . Every review is great and they are so popular, consider bring the back and drop some of the less favorites. No way you can lose money..... |

These boots are the best boots that I have purchased yet. I have tried many different brands and none matched this except for the Vercors (which is also made by Montrail). The stability of these boots is stellar. And, the comfort is really great. I was really scared because all of the reviews were saying that break in was a killer. I am only 110 pounds and have 7 shoe! I thought it would take me a year but I took the gamble anyway. It only took me around 10 miles for the boots to start to feel comfy. The boots are fabulous. They just get better with time. I have very flat wide feet with a super narrow heal. Very difficult for me to find the right boot, but alas, I have! It is absolutely bomb proof and not too heavy. I don't backpack with a heavy pack but these boots are very appropriate for me. I really love them. Can't say enough good things about em. I don't know why other people had such a hard time breaking the boots in. Maybe they weren't laced correctly for their particular feet. I am going to purchase another pair just in case they no longer make these boots. I am afraid I won't be able to find them again if mine ever wear out! Customer Service Great! They were $263.00, but I found them cheaper elsewhere. Zappos refunded the difference + 10% to me! No shipping or tax either! Can't beat it with a stick! Very burly mountain boot. Bought them 2 yrs ago and still in the break-in stage, though they haven't gotten frequent use. But they are definitely getting more comfortable, and are definitely heavy-duty. I don't know if they're really a "trail" boot - unless you plan on doing some climbing there are definitely more comfortable options out there. At the time I bought em I was getting into mountaineering and wanted a boot compatible with step-in crampons. Looking back, probably should have got more of a "hiking boot", but if they continue to break in they should do the trick on the trail for a long time yet. Experienced some delamination near the toe box on one boot but got it repaired and haven't experienced any more trouble. These are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn in my life, and trust me, I've had my fair-share of boots. They fit so well and feel great! They put pressure on all the right places on my foot, protect me from my shins down, and look great!! I wear these for work, hunting, hiking/backpacking, and working out in the snow. I broke these in on a two-day snowshoe trip in Vermont (mostly flat terrain). After 16 hrs, I did not have so much as a hot spot. I can't even say this about boots that I've already broken in. These are heavy and I wont be using them for 3-day or less trips in the summer. For the price I paid though, they look like they'll be worth every penny over rough / up&down terrain.
