Montrail Torre GTX Mens Hiking Backpacking Boots

Montrail Torre GTX Mens Hiking Backpacking Boots

DESCRIPTION

Hiking and light backpacking boot is stout and chock-full of features. Gore-Tex-lined leather construction is supportive and keeps feet thankfully dry. The combination of aggressive outsole, leather construction and Gore-Tex waterproofness gives you one boot you can use from early Spring through late Fall.

Great boots. 120km in 7 days in NEw Zealand and they held up wonderfully. I did not break them in well before-hand, forded streams without gaiters(wet), equals painful blisters. Boots dried quickly, if that is a consolation. Waterproofing works great unless it comes in over the top of the boot. The sole was rigid enough to keep my foot muscles from getting sore with a 45lb pack. Highly recommend gaiters with any boot. Break in boots on TRAIL with pack before any extended trip.

Love 'em. Not much break in period because of the intagra fit and good waterproofing. I would have to agree that these are not boots for those of you with wide feet, but mine are thin and bony so they did great. I have had a terrible time finding boots that fit my little feet but these are great! They are a little pricey but you'll find they're worth the mony when you've been packing 60 pounds around for the last 10 miles. The stylish looks are an added bonous, but these boots are really built to hit the trails in comfort! Buy them. I'm getting a second pair.

Merril something or others...great in town but miserable on a hike. The soles wore to fast and I got blisters everywhere. Not a seerious hiking brand.

WOW is all i have to say. Absolutely no break in time what so over. I bought these boots right before a 2 week trip into northern British Columbia. I thought my feet would die, but I did not get a single blister duing the entire 2 weeks. This IS NOT a heavy duty boot, dont expect it to give you alot of support hauling 80 pounds. But for just around town to 2 week treks with 60 pound packs i reccomend these boots

For those with narrow feet this is the boot that fits! I normally wear a 10 C. Try finding that one. Anyway, with a size 11, smart feet high volume insert, two pairs of socks (capiline liner and smart wool expedition hiker) these boots are great. From 14k in the rockies to swamps in Texas I have put about 400 miles on these boots. Highest day milage 17.5 in 6k trails w 35# pack. Nary a hot spot. Sole gets great purchase on all terrain types. The goretex is great on snow/wet enviornment. Just ordered a second pair. Requires about 20 miles to loosen up in the begining.

Recently purchased over a month ago. Great looking boot but my mountain team commented that the seperate sewed on sections wouldn't be fully waterproof. They suggested a boot that has one wall (one piece of leather) instead of the different layers.
Walking on ice, snow, and slippery rocks, the sole proformed well. I only tried the boot once and didn't feel like it need much more breaking in. I have very narrow feet and w/ 2 socks, felt fine. Lots of room around the toes. No cramp on ability so my team says if I'm willing to pay $70 more, get the Montrail Moraines. One layer and cramp-on ability. I like the boots but may return them (heard REI has good return product policy) because I may be able to get them cheaper. I'm beginning heavy, off-trail hiking and this boot is slightly below average stiffness so I may look to upgrade to the Moraines. With skinny feet and little meat, I hope the Moraines stiffness doesn't dig into my ankles. Contact me if you want any novice advice.

REI fitted me to these boots and my first reaction at the store was, "Gee, nice boots, but they are too narrow; they are gripping my toes too tight".

The manager assured me that these boot are meant to grip the foot to control friction and that I should try to get used to it. I broke the boots in and then took them on a 20 mile day hike on the Barr trail. The result to my feet was terrible blisters that took weeks to heal.

My advice on these boots is that they run narrow -- if that works for you great. However, I have a wide forefoot and the boots do not work for me. If they feel too tight in the store, don't listen to anyone who tells you to get used to it!

Customer Service

REI took the boots back and apoligized for the bad advice.

These are the best boots I have ever worn. They took a bit more time to break in than I thought, but they are like butter, now. They took me to the top of Shasta without a leak and my feet felt great at the end of a long (15 hours) hike. Plenty of room in the toe box and the tread design is sure footed. I've worn these with a 50 lb+ pack and without and no problems either way. Take the time to break these in and you will not be disappointed. I bit pricey, but not too expensive for a boot of this quality.

Customer Service

I'm hooked on Montrail. The shoelaces started to fray after about a year. I emailed their CS and they said they had some problems with the laces and sent me a new, better, set imeediately. These guys rock!!!
