horrible. though they were reasonably comfortable while starting the trail, after only 3 days of wear, the toe of the boots were both starting to separate from the sole. me feet were soaked and the sole was completely detached after the 5th day. i took them back and i goldberg gave me another pair. i did not use them until a year later, and again the soul separated at the toe of each boot. now tecnica wont respond to my emails and there is no phone number on the site to call. my boots were sent back to tecnica and the store closed where i got them. now i cannot contact the store or tecnica, and i am out 150.00. this boot is great if ur only planning a day hike and then throwing them away. anything longer than that, they cannot be depended on!!!

These boots are immediately comfortable--even more comfortable than some of the boots built like athletic shoes. Despite this comfort, they're still sturdy enough with plenty of support. Overall, they're great combination of lightweight and support. The upper is synthetic but still breathable. The sole welt looks like it might be fragile but so far it's taken a beating on rocky trails and been no worse for the wear.

I pretty much had all the experiences, good and bad, that other reviewers have reported. Yes, it is very comfortable, light and requires virtually no break-in. I'm a pretty big guy (over 250 lbs) and I found the support of the boot to be pretty good. Though it is classified as light hiker I found it more than adequate while lugging around a 45 lb pack (most of my family's common gear) for three days. However, while hiking in the Porcupine Mountains with my wife and kids earlier this summer the boots upper delaminated from the midsole and sole. Up until that point I thought the boots water resistance was pretty good (The Porkies can be pretty muddy). Ireturned to the Porkies in October and discovered another problem. As another reviewer noted, they are slippery on wet rocks. I think the lug sole lacks depth. It was terrible on wet trails (not even neccessarily a muddy trail- just wet). The guys I was with in the fall had Asolo and Vasque and had a much easier time than I did. well, the replacement boots did not fail in the fall and I will see how they do this spring.

When the boots delaminated this summer I returned the boots to the store where I bought them. I had hoped to get a refund so I could go buy a pair of Zamberlan's from REI, but was only given the option of either a store credit or to return them to Technica. The store did not have anything else I liked so I had them send the boots back. Technica was prompt. They sent the new pair out before receiving the old pair back. That was nice.

I've used these boots for about 6 months now, and they are excellent light hikers. They provide enough support for most weekend hikers, but are a little light for extended trips or off trail rambles. The biggest problem I have had is their mediocre waterproofing. Other than that, no problems so far. And right now, you can find these boots seriously discounted at many places because Technica is discontinuing them next year.(I bought mine at Campmor for $80)

This summer my excellent leather Technica boots that had lasted through 3 years of heavy use finally blew out. I desperately needed new boots and with a limited selection, decided to try the new synthetic Technica Voyagers. I was sorely dissappointed. After the SECOND day of use over difficult terrain in Arizona the sole began to seperate from the boot. After two weeks of use the sole was 1/2 way off the right boot and 1/4 of the way off the left boot. I was in a remote area and not able to return them to the dealer. I was forced to glue the soles back to the boots. After the third week of use I was able to return them to the dealer. Wearing this boot is equivilent to wearing a pair of high-top converse sneakers, except the Technica's provide less traction when wet. When these boots got even slightly wet I would slip easily on rocks. Also, while Voyager's do not claim to be waterproof, they are not even the slightest bit water resistant. My feet bacame completely soaked after just walking through damp vegetation. I work for the US Forest Service and trust my life to my gear. I never expected these boots to last more than a year, and would have been happy if they lasted 6 months. However, no matter what the difficulty of the terrain, no hiking boot should begin to fall apart on the SECOND day of use! These comfortable boots even managed to give my tough feet a blister.

I got mine on sale at my local shop, a deal I was lucky to find. THe week after I bought them, I made the mistake of bringing them to Yosemite (this was spring and there was a lot of snow up there) My feet were wet the entire time from the snow that got up in the laces then melted, seeping into the shoe. What I learned from this experience: Pay the extra to get the TCY version.
Other than that, they were great. Totally broken in by the end of the weekend with only a blister on the heel, and that's because they were wet and I didn't tie them tight enough. DO NOT EXPECT THESE TO BE WATERPROOF OR EVEN WATER RESISTANT. They're probably just dandy in the summer time, but stay away from those streams.

A lace loop started to pull away, and when that happened, it shredded the midsole of my other boot. As soon as I got back, I took them to the shop I got them at and they, in turn, sent them to Technica. A few weeks later I got a new pair which I upgraded to the TCY. I think it was only like $30 more and well worth it.

As soon as you step into to this boot, it is amazingly comfortable, hardly any breaking in required. It is very supportive in the ankles and arches, and performs very well on rocks around creeks and lakes, even when wet. The only thing is, after about a year of beating, the toe came apart, the sole came up, but you can only expect it to take so much, just like any boot.
