Awesome, could've gotten a better deal through REI, but I'm impulsive. Best feeling things I have to wear in the closet bar none, really none. And after 3 days in the rain in the Smokies, my tootsies were the only dry things I had. Thank your MR GORETEX. |

These boots are very comfortable now that I have broken them in. They are as stiff as I want to cinch the laces. I have hiked through several streams and the water stayed out. My girlfriend and I go on relatively long day hikes and need strong support for our feet. These boots do it without being bulky. However, like other reviewers mentioned, they have a problem on wet rocks. They could also use more heel padding, but I put some Dr. Schols pads in and they feel much better. They are now my primary and best hiking boots. And at this price, they were too good to pass up. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Solomon |

On the plus side these boots seem to be quite durable and a definite improvement over my last pair in terms of comfort. They are sturdy and offer good support. On a rather significant down note, they have very poor traction on wet rock, particularly the kind of smooth-faced, lichen covered rock that is typical in the Canadian Shield where I do most of my hiking. They're okay on dry rock and perhaps even in other kinds of wet rock environments (like the rougher surfaced trails in the Rockies), but I would have to strongly recommend against them if you backpack in eastern Canada. I came close to slipping and breaking my neck on several occasions - the hazard posed by these boots far outweighs any benefits in this environment. Customer Service Was not too pleased with the response received by the Vasques customer service when I advised them of what I thought was a significant danger. I was hoping that they would take my concerns seriously as I honestly believe people could risk their safety by wearing these boots on at least some types of wet rock. We're not talking about having to exercise a little extra caution - there is a very substantial loss of traction compared to any other kind of footwear I've used and it is quite dangerous if you don't expect it. They took a very casual and disinterested attitude and suggested I make a warranty claim at my place of purchase if I thought I had a valid case. Similar Products Used: Hi-tecs, Wolverines |

I bought these boots last year and I love them. The weekend of october the first I went backpacking with a couple of friends and it POURED! most of our gear got wet except for my feet. My friends were all complaining about cold wet tired feet and my feet felt fine. So are they water proof? Definately, and that's an understatment. Not to mention the great Skywalk soles, which have deep lugs with outstanding traction. I give these boots Eight thumbs up. Customer Service Bought them from REI, very fast delivery. Similar Products Used: Merrel blast (eh) |

These boots are one of the better buys I have made. They broken in nicely over various types of trails without any blistering. I did develop one hotspot on my heel, though I wasn't wearing my normal socks. We were caught in a storm which dumped 4 inches of snow in the Sierra over Labor Day weekend. The boots kept my feet warm and dry even trudging though the slush. These are great boots and I'd recomend them to anyone. Customer Service Haven't dealt with Vasque but REI is wonderful. I have had my Clarion GTX's for a couple of months now. I have done some hiking in New England, especially a very nice trail up Mt. Mansfield in Vermont. Probably the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. Stiffness is good, support is good and haven't had and problems with water seepage. I did some very wet weather hiking this past weekend at Silent Lake, just north of Peterborough, Ontario and the boots came through fine. But like several other of you I have some problems with the soles. They aren't nearly as sticky as the pair of Ones-Sports I have been using for the past few years. I found myself slipping over wet rocks, something that was never a problem before. On the other hand, the One-Sports didn't have as much support and weren't as durable as I think these will be. I am just going to have to be more careful about wet weather hikes. Similar Products Used: None |

The uppers are durable and the replaceable insoles are great for maintenance and fine tuning but I have been very puzzled by the combination of goretex lined boots that have a sole that is very slippery on wet rocks and roots. This is the second pair of Clarions I have owned, the first pair I had the soles ground off by a shoe repair shop and replaced with a Vibram sole which had much more grip. I had hoped that the newer Clarions would have taken care of this but it looks like a trip to the shoe repair shop is in order again. Similar Products Used: Clarion, various Hi-Tech's |
