I had the boots for about 3 months before the started to deteriorate. The leather started to wear and now my shoes look like they are 2 years old in about a 5 month period. I'm very dissatisfied in how they hold up. I've had Vasque boots before than the were a lot better than this one. I hope the Gortex leaks before the year is up so I can get new ones. My pair did not hold up well at all. They showed tremendous wear (e.g., cuts through the leather uppers)after only several hikes, and were in worse shape than my old pair of boots(different brand)that had had years of use over rougher terrain. Customer Service I had bought them at EMS, who allowed me to trade them in for a pair of Asolo's that I have been very happy with. |

I like these boots a great deal. The break in period was short and relatively painless. They breathe well and fit my average width feet very nice. |

These boots have been good for me. I have a medium with foot and these boots have been realy comfortable for my weight(155) and a 50lb pack. I wear them everywear. I'm a AT trail maintainer and use my boots a lot. They are very waterproof and mine show medium wear within 2 years. This is the second pair I have owned. I recomoned them to any light weight backpacker who goes out for weekend trips to week long in medium terrian. My boots broke right in within a few weeks. Customer Service The last pair of Clarions I had owned for about a year and the rubber toe guard was begining to peel of the front. I sent them back to vasque and they sent me a new pair of boots in the new style. Similar Products Used: Hi Tech, Arizona Co., The old Style Clarions |

Day Hiker
If you can get these boots for around $50 dollars you'll be ok. They are not rigid enough to do any backpacking, but should make a decent day hiking boot if the terrain is not rocky. Customer Service The gortex lining ruptured and began to leak in one of the boots. I was under the impression that the gortex was guarenteed never to leak. Boy was I fooled. When I attempted to return the boots for repair or replacement I basically got a "hell no we want replace them" attitude from the mall-type high-priced retailer. From now on I buy from REI where the customers come first. I now wear REI Spirit and Mtn Trekker boots both made by Raichle. They are the best... Similar Products Used: One sports, fabiano reo's |

Tried on lots of boots, none of which felt comfortable, yet the instant I put on the Clarion, I knew it was right. Comfortable from the first step, no need to break them in. Lightweight and solid. Hiked in the pouring rain, and the feet stayed totally dry (I've got the gortex inner liners), despite having the older design with the fabric over the front of the boot. Haven't put many miles on them yet, only 3 weekend trips so far and some day hikes, but I'd buy them again, and definitely recommend the gortex liners. Similar Products Used: Timberland boots. |

These boots have been suprisingly waterproof and always comfortable. I had problems at first with the insoles not only being too large, but falling apart within two weeks. I called Vasque and they mailed me a new (smaller) pair within a week, now they fit like a glove. Customer Service Previously mentioned problem with insoles...great customer service. I have an older version of the Clarion GTX. These boots have felt good from the first day I tried them on. They have never given me a blister and have kept my feet dry under all conditions. I've had them for 2 years and they have held up fine. I wouldn't recommend them for extensive heavy backpacking (they just don't have the stiffness or support in the soles) but that's not what they are designed for. They're great for getting around town, day hikes, and short overnight trips. Last New Years' I was traveling with friends in Europe, each of them suffered from blisters, tired, cold, and wet feet, while my feet remained warm, dry, and blister free. I have noticed that these boots do not grip well and become slippery on packed snow, ice, and wet glossed over conditions. Hopefully, the new current skywalker soles have eliminated this. When my boots need to be resoled, I will have to see if this is the case. Aside from that these boots have and continue to serve me well. I wouldn't hesitate in buying another pair and highly recommend these boots to others. Similar Products Used: Zamberlan, Technica, Lowa, |

Bought the leather ones at Galyan's for $165. Haven't had them on the trails yet, but they have broken in nicely in a short time. My feet don't seem to sweat very much compared to my old Timberland Eurohikers, and they are much more surefooted on wet rock or pavement. The construction quality is excellent, but I am disappointed that they are manufactured in China--I would prefer shoes at this price be made in the USA Similar Products Used: Timberland Eurohiker, Raichle, Hi-tech and some other cheap hikers |
