In addition to my review below I wanted to add that the guys below who have problems with blisters must have either:
- Not selected the correct boot for their feet
- Not broken them in properly
or
- Not worn liner socks

My boots get a very regular hard workout and I've not so much as had a hot spot, let alone a blister.

I spent 3 weeks breaking the boots in, I wore them for about 4 hours a day at work (in an office) each day. I wear Gobi liner socks inside my main sock.

I own the GTX Civetta II's and have had them for a year. These boots are easy to break in and yet give plenty of support. They are EXTREMELY comfortable and the traction and durability of the Vibran sole is excellent. I use these boots for extended hikes, day hikes and snowshoeing - perform well in all these activities. These boots have a large toe box which makes them ideal as a 4 season boot - you can add very thick socks in the winter and still have room to wiggle your toes. There are very few seems on these boots which should insure durability and better waterproofing. To enhance this I added a sealer to all stiches before Nikwaxing.

Customer Service

I returned a pair of REI Spirits to exchange for these boots. The Spirits became uncomfortable after a year, REI customer service were very understanding and offerred full credit towards the Civettas.

REI Spirits - also owned for a year. The Civettas, however, are definately superior and will last me many more years.

Guess I have a pretty normal foot.

Spent a long time trying on boots and selected the Civettas. Past boots were Montrail Moraines and they just didn't break-in to my foot like I had hoped . . . mainly had trouble on my ankle and top og big toe . . . (never heel problems).

So far so good with the Civettas! Break-in seemed normal and I haven't yet experienced and problem with my heels. So far only gone maybe 40 miles or so on the trails with pack.

My bottom-line up to this point is these are the most comfortable things I've ever put on my feet . . . ever! Hope I stay this happy.

I do wear orthodics so I pulled the footbeds out Day 1.
