These boots are very beautiful but, of course, once treated look much the same as any others!
I loved my two pairs of Mountain Lites to pieces (literally!) so I had high hopes for these. They are cutting my feet up badly at the heel bith bad hot spots. I've worn them around he house, too & from work and on 5 8 mile hikes but I still end up having to tape over my heel skin.
I can't figure out what is wrong as I have never had anything like this before so be careful if you pick up a pair

A good pair of boots. Well made, shapely, and good heft. Long break in period and a bit stiff around the upper ankle- can present achilles tendon problems. The clusaz sole wears in the center at a slightly higher rate than you would expect. The leather lining and the overall form of the boot is good enough though.

I purchased this boot as a heavy duty backpacking boot. The break in period was long and a bit painful. However, now that they are broken in, they are comfortable and will probably last several resoling. Another bonus, they are water tight without needing a sweat shop, gore-tex liner.

When I tried these boots on in the store, they instantly fit like a dream. I like the fact that they are one-piece leather, treated with something they call Hydro-Bloc. I waxed 'em as well, and they stayed watertight. The break in period does seem long though, but otherwise they are very comfortable. I have not noticed any breakdown in construction as others have reported with the civettas.

This is really a review for the mountain lite which I could not find but which appears to be similar to this boot. These boots are great. You can't beat Italian craftmanship in hiking boots. I have had mine for over ten years and have used them winter and summer, to work in, etc. and they have never let me down. They are also very comforatble (after break-in). I bought mine for $166 cdn, they are now ~$270 cdn and I would not hesitate to buy another pair. Mine are cut up and the leather is so old that it is cracking but I figure I can still get a couple more years out of them.
