I've used this bag on three Denali trips as well as a couple of Rockies winter trips now, and it is by far the lightest bag for the warmth you can get. The company does customized bags if you're willing to wait a month or two and pay a little extra, but it's worth every penny and minute. The bag looks to be the lightest on the market for its warmth, has a full hood ruffle so that you can close it up to a tiny little breathing hole if you need to (I never needed it, the bag was warm enough already), comes with built in loops on the inside to attach an optional vapor barrier liner (also never needed), and has a great collar design. The drawcord material for the collar is bungie material so it doesn't choke you, but for the face is nylon lacing type stuff, both having cordlocks so you can adjust them any way you want from the inside. Another cool thing is that instead of using scratchy velcro to seal the collar and hood, they use small plastic snaps, which are easy to snap barehanded when you're buttoning up for the night. They're built normally in particular lengths, but can be ordered to custom fit your height, as well as stuffed with 800+ fill down for the truly weight conscious or overfilled for more warmth. I have a 6' bag and am 5'7", so I can put plenty of stuff into the foot of the bag to keep it from freezing overnight. Another good thing about this company is that their listed weights are far more accurate than just about any of the other "big name" companies out there, and I've checked with my little postal scale, so they're not lying to you. Comes complete with a stuffsack and storage sack, both of which are adequately sized, but could be a little larger; I replaced mine with an REI storage sack since it was larger than the FF one (you do need the extra volume to store it, it's that lofty) and an REI stuffsack that was a bit bigger so I could stuff it easier, and then stuff that easier into the sleeping bag compartment of my pack without having to use one of those heavy compression stuffsacks. Customer Service Their folks use their stuff and depend on it for their lives, so when you talk to them, they know what you mean when you want some particular feature. I've ordered another bag from them, customized from a standard model, as well as a full farmer john pile suit, customized, and have never been disappointed. The Snow goose is very light for the warmth. It surrounds you with a sof pillow of down. the PTEF shell is waterproof and breathable. The hood fits over the entire head leaving a small breathing tube, I really liked this on the last freezing trip. The best bag I have ever owned. It will keep you warm in the coldest temps. To get this super bag it costs some money but after the first good nights sleep in frezzing conditions its worth every penny. Customer Service I had a bag delivered by ups to the wrong house. When the bag didnt show up I called and questioned it. to make a long story short they made me a custom bag with 800+ goose down and rused it to me just in time for a summit trip we had planned for a year. They are GREAT!!!! Similar Products Used: I used an EMS synthetic bag 0deg rating for ten years it was a reall trooper. |
