Spent the month of May '07 on Denali with a Marmot Col and have no complaints. Warm every night and the bag stayed dry. Stuffing took a little time and I found a compression stuff sack very helpful. I really appreciated the shoulder and foot room in the bag. Other bags in this temp range were too snug for boots, water, etc. in the bag.

REI: I took my first bag back as the loft was less than I expected (looking for 9"). I took some bags out of their storage sacks at REI and picked the loftiest of the bunch. REI was no problem in this matter.

This bag is great! I''ve been using it up in the White Mountains in the winter and so far I have been warm every night with just my long underwear on. The Dryloft coating is very good at keeping the down dry. When you try to stuff it in a stuff sack though, turn it inside out. The dryloft on the outside of the bag doesn''t let the air out easily. The only problem is the inner drawstring that pulls the bag in around your neck feels too low, instead it tightens the bag around my shoulders.

I don't agree with previous man. This is impossible because Marmot pays attention to every details. I recomend him to call to Marmot customer servise to explaine the problem they will gladly help him.

this bag is very well made and kept me warm down to 25F. Nothing compares with Marmot bags that are so carefully made for your comfort and function in the backcountry.

Customer Service

I have used other bags. Marmot is the best.

I have mixed views on the Marmot Col. sleeping bag. The bag has without a doubt the best fitting hood I have ever had on any sleeping bag I have ever owned. It fits extremely well. And just feels good. The dryloft skin seems to repel moisture very well also. The minus side of this bag is in its lack of fill. The bag does not have enough down to fill the chambers correctly. I have slept in this sleeping bag on plenty of very cold and snowy nights and each time I have had to use my down jacket inside the bag as a cover. This is bull for a sleeping bag that cost so much. The construction as far as sewing goes is great. Add some fill to this sack and it will be great. As of now I cannot recommend anyone purchase this sleeping bag.

Customer Service

I have emailed Marmot and explained the problem.. No response from them.

Fantastic bag. Used at temps. to -30, and was still very toasty. Plenty of shoulder room, enough to put boot liners and next days clothes into. Dryloft outer kept the large amount of down dry, even in a very icy, wet tent.
The weight is light for the degree of bag, and it stuffs small, although I would recommend a compression sack.

Paid a lot for this bag, but it's worth every penny. Got it on sale, then saw it even cheaper at northernmountain.com a few weeks later.
I've spent a number of very cold nights in this bag, and it's kept me toasty warm every time. And with a compression sack, it packs down to the size of a football. Can't beat that.
The Dryloft coating is great. My Bibler tent seems to shed quite a bit of frost at night, but the moisture has never caused a problem with this bag. And a recent hot chocolate spill had no effect.
Zipper snags quite a bit, but I'll deal with that.
If you plan on camping in very cold weather, buy this bag.

Recently spent several sub zero nights in the mountains of western Wyoming and the bag kept me warm and comfortable! I've never used a bag like this one.

After I spent a considerable amount of time shopping for the the best bag for me, it became clear that Marmot has the best product.

Everyone I travel with is very imperssed with the loft of this bag when they see it next to theirs in the tent.

It's expensive but worth it!

This bag is very warm, but I found it too tight around my torso. I got the long (I'm 6'1) so I could store extra gear in the bag with me, but the shoulder area was too tight. I used the bag with temps doun around zero in a bivey, and found it too warm. I needed to vent.....

After an extremely cold night near 12,000 in late Nov. I was convinced this was a worthwhile purchase. I tested it out outside a tent in 40 mph gusting winds. The winds nearly blew me off my sleeping pad a few times but never penetrated the Dryloft. The hood and overall cut of the bag are nice and roomy for tossy turny sleepers like myself - plenty of room for water bottles etc as well. compacts very small and light weight for the temp rating. Hard to shell out all that cash but look for those occasional 20% off coupons at REI!

If you sleep near this bag you'll stay warm. Great bag, still good quality even though Marmot is getting bigger. Used it buried in snow bivies above 13,000ft in the winter in CO and at about -35F above 17,000ft on Denali. Throw a coupla pads under it and bring a vapor barrier sac and I'd feel comfortable taking it on the big trips. Alot of literature would suggest getting a -35F bag for big peaks (not anything in the western hemisphere)- I prolly woulda, but I got a great deal on my Col and have been very happy.
