Good bag for the truely cold climates, but could be better. Lots of loft in the body, and around the head, but has a bit too much interior volume in the feet to keep them warm. Nothing to get excited about or take out a third mortgage. Overrated this bag is probably best regarded as a -30f bag to be honest. Thats still plenty warm for many out there! Feathered Friends has lighter, more durable, and warmer bags for minimal difference in cost. I will be purchasing one soon. Customer Service Marmot is hardly customer oriented. In the last 2-3 years they have put customers on the back burner, and proceeded to North Farce thier products overseas...DONT EXPECT ASSISTANCE OR TIMELY WARRANTY ISSUES! I took it out camping the other night to test it out. The temp was right around zero and I was about to sweat to death. This thing is HOT! Had some problems with zipper snag when I went to fast. Other than that and the price, the bag is great. Customer Service haven''t had a problem yet Similar Products Used: REI Yosemity North Face |

first of all, i bought this before planet outdoors went out of business and got 30% off which is why i chose it over wm bison. i have used it in 0 in interior alaska with only a thin accordian thermarest on snow. i was cold, but it all came from underneath. at 10 above in a cabin i was absolutely toasty. and it does compress to an absurdly small area and is a breeze to stuff. i love this bag- i expect with another pad as is totally required in alaska i would have been as warm. be careful with the zipper due to loft, its like the 8000 meter parka by marmot, lofty, lofty, lofty Customer Service havent had the pleasure Similar Products Used: 8000 meter parka, parabat membrain |

I used the Marmot CWM in November, 1998 in the mtn. range of the North Cascade, Washington. It is my opinion that the CWM is quite possibly the best expedition bag in its class. I have used a bag by Western Mtnr and one by Feathered Friends. In comparing the loft and the over all preformance of these bags the CWM stands alone. I should also add that I'm only 5'3" and normally don't fill a bag which means that a bag normally feels colder to me than a taller person. I was still warm in the CWM. Similar Products Used: None |

Excellent cold weather bag. Even does well up to +30' F. The Dri-Loft stuff is an excellent substitue for Gore Tex - more breathability, less water resistance. Therefore, good bivy sack recommended on extended trips to keep bag dry. Bag is comfy, no clinging feeling. Tested in the Arctic on Baffin I. for 3 wk. ski traverse. Extra ducks on the tootsies and head is nice. Customer Service Marmot is as good as they get, service-wise. Similar Products Used: N.Face / Vanity Fair(?) |

This bag rocks. Don't buy this bag unless you really need a -40 bag or sleep VERY cold. Huge amount of loft when out and it compresses to an amazing little package. Similar Products Used: EMS synthetic bags, TNF down, etc |

This bag lives up to its hefty price (I couldn't have afforded it unless I had gotten it used like I did). It has a huge amount of loft from its 775 down filling. I have yet to sleep in it fully zipped it is just so warm, even on below zero nights in the White Mtns. The Dryloft shell works well, even in a dripping snow shelter. The weight is reasonable for a bag of this rating (-40F). Similar Products Used: Caribou Big Chill, Marmot Pinnacle |

MY WIFE WAS ALWAYS COMPLAINING ABOUT HER NORTH FACE BAG THAT WAS RATED TO ABOUT +20F BECAUSE SHE ALWAYS FROZE WHEN WE WENT CAMPING IN THE WINTER OR FALL MONTHS. SHE FINALLY BOUGHT A CWM AND HASN'T COMPLAINED SINCE. SHE ABSOLUTELY LOVES THE BAG AND SAYS IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT! |

Bought this bag and did not like it. I am a warm sleeper and was cold in the Adirondacks a few winters ago (temp did not go below 10F). My brother was cold in his CWM. The other two guys were warm in their bags (that were not rated as low). I would not recommend this bag. Customer Service Customer service took the bag back and gave me a different model and a credit slip. Similar Products Used: My new bag is the Marmot Valhalla 3D/Dryloft and I have been warmer in worse conditions than I encountered in the CWM. |
