first off i think that the temp rating is way to conservitive and it is about a 15*-20* bag, everytime i have slept in my sawtooth i had to unzip the bag halfway, i have been above 11,000 feen in septenber for more than a week in this bag and never got cold, snow above 10,000 ft. in may in the uintas and had to unzip the thing. this is a super bag for the $$$ and i would recomend it to anyone that wants a entry level down bag, it is far better than every other bag at this price range on the market and leaks very little down.

This is a great bag and especially at the price I paid. It is warm, light, packs small and is durable. I have used it down to 30 degrees and had to unzip the side for cooling even at that temp. I have also used it in the high 50's during the summer and was way too warm. In that case, I simply unzipped it and used it as a blanket. Not quite as nice as Marmot's 700 bags, but still better than anything out there. I'm predicting at least a decade out of this bag.

I have had the Sawtooth for almost three years, used it a lot. I have bumped up against the 20 degree rating at least twice without any problems. Overall it is a great bag. Consistent insulation. Packs small. Fits well.

I have the long version of the Sawtooth. I love this sleeping bag. Considering how lightweight it is and how small it packs down, it has kept me exceptionally warm in extreme winter conditions. I would recommend this bag to anyone who is in the market for a backpacking bag.
If you are worried about getting your down bag wet, I have woken up in the morning with melted snow beaded up on my bag. Don't drop it in the river and you should be alright.

Customer Service

Once I got through to a Marmot Mountain worker on the phone, they were exceptionally helpful.

Kept me warmer than needed in 25° weather at the top of Yosemite Falls in april.
It was a little tight around the legs; figure-four is prohibited. I suupose that's normal for mummy bags.

This bag has excellent loft, is very compressible, and is quite roomy for my 5'10" 195 lb frame. I got the regular size, and have plenty of room to move my feet around. I looked at TNF Blue Kazoo, and this bag just seemed to have more room at the chest level and better quality down. The only negative is that it doesn't have a draft tube around the chin area, but I tend to sleep warm anyway. Otherwise, it's perfect for 3 season backpacking. I doesn't hurt that I got it on sale at REI either!

managed to find a sawtooth in NH EMS for $80. it's sufficient for spring, fall climates but isn't warm enough for late fall or early spring mornings. was using in an open shelter. may be better if used in a tent. the loft is nice. the cut's slightly narrow though.

Customer Service

not water proof. ultimate value for me cause i found it for $80.

this is a pretty nice bag. It is definately well made, and fits me (6'1", 180lbs.) well. This shell is tough and sheds water really well. Note that it is a 20-30 degree bag. I'm a cold sleeper and had trouble keeping warm below 30. The problem is that they don't put enough insulation on the bottom and cold seeps up, even with my full length thermarest. It packs very small. For the money, I think I'd choose a Mountain Hardwear Talllac if i did it again.

Marmot definitely makes quality gear. For the price, this three season bag offers more comfort and less weight with marmot durability that convinced me to buy over other similar bags. Get 2 and zip em together with your your favorite backpacking friend!
