got the long to have room for water bottles and clothes in the bottom. bit bulky as all synthetics are. use a reflective pad under me. Never had a problem with this bag.
Remember bag ratings mean you wont die at -30 not that you'll be happy.

I purchased the Xanadu for winter backpacking but was disappointed by its overly optimistic temperature rating. When temps inside my tent dropped to 0 F. my chest was warm to cool, and
my feet were cool to cold. Even though I was wearing polartec 200 boot liners, all clothing layers and insulated bibs, minus the jacket. I used a sleeping pad with an R factor of 5, and wind was not a factor because I walled up the tent sides with snow. The Xanadu is a 0 degree bag at best, I would not recommend it for anything colder.

I've had this bag for two years and unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations at all! I've used it for overnights to 10 days winter camping trips. Everytime I use it for more then a night, the bag freezes inside. I'll explain myself... When taking my sleeping bag out to make it dry, the outside membrane freezes witch you can brush but the insulation, the inside layers, freeze to and create ice crystal to ice chunks inside the membrane!! And because you can't open a bag to take the insulation out (da!) well, you end up packing the bag with ice and creating a bigger problem the day after. Imagine passing ten days in the middle of nowhere with a bag full of ice!? Quebec winter conditions tend to be more humid but still... Also, I know a couple of friends who had similar problems with their xanadu bag. Anyone ever heard about it?

Customer Service

We are (me and my friends who own the same bag) actually trying to get a refund or credit for our bags with Marmot. Because they never heard of a similar problem, they are not offering anything worth it for now but we are still trying to figure out what happened...
