This bags have more cons that i've expect. First, the zipper snag easily, the hood is not comfortable, the draft tube kill me if i try to keep my warm, near 30. It have no cushion in the tube. MHW made good products but the price is too big for the products. Now i can't live without Sierra Desins bags

Great bag for 90% of the hiking that I do. My other two bags are down and this is the second synthetic I've owned (the other one sucked). I've been backpacking for about a decade and I've done some long sections of both the AT & PC trails. Longest stretch was the northern half of the AT in the fall of 96. I picked up this bag for two reasonns. #1. My Feathered Friends down bag was too tight for comfort (I've put on a little weight since using it on the AT). #2. I needed something for warmer weather. The expansion joint in the 1st Dimension is a great idea. I often get colder close to morning and it is a great way to regulate comfort. I don't know how the insulation is going to hold up. I expect it won't last anything like my down bags but if I get 2-3 years of use out of it I'll be happy. So far so good. There is also some benefit to the performance of synthetics in wet conditions. I never had real problems with down so that wasn't and issue but it does allow me to be lazier about packing and using the bag in the rain/snow. Overall I'd say this is a great product. The tempeture rating is accurate (at least when new), the build quality is good and it was priced attractively. Add in the unique expansion system and I would feel safe in recommending this bag for good three season use.

Excellent bag. Packs small. Light. Warm. The expander is great. You can use this bag in a very wide temperature range- everything zipped, expander open, zipper open on bottom, zipper open on bottom and expander open, zipper completely open.... etc. etc. etc. Great price too.

This is my frist decetn bag. I've been very happy with it. I have the long and I'm 6'3" and it fits me well. The size is right and so too is the weight. All in all I'd say this is one of those products where you get what you paid for. In this case it's a good product.

The bag is rated to 30 degrees. I've never been out colder than that so I can't tell how it would be in cold situations. Still, if you're looking for a three season bag, this is it.

Great bag for humid conditions, if you ever do run into them. I had a month to test the 1st dimension (no stormlight)in Bolivia where the temperature varied from 0 to 30 degrees celsius at night. Humid and dry conditions. Cold sleeper. 5'6": regular length.

Pros:
1) compact and light since there is a double layer polarguard 3D loft on top and a single layer of loft on the bottom(ground facing)so you save weight without risking warmth
2) wicks away moisture in wet conditions
3) emergency mosquito net
4) zipper is closer to ground so heat is not lost from heat rising and escaping thru zipper
5) pocket for mosquito net can be used to keep valuables in

Cons:
1) Zipper often gets caught on draft tube along zipper or on surrounding material
2) you need to wear a hat while sleeping with the mosquito net on (keeps the net off your face)and the mosquito net doesn't prevent other bugs from crawling along the net and into the bag): this is a minor problem since you might use a bivy or a tent to keep out the bugs

Also, I did not have the opportunity to clean the bag for a month and I specifically got the synthetic bag since it could more suitably handle the moist conditions and dry faster than down.

Did I mention the excellent build quality and silk-like feel of the inside of the bag?

This sleeping bag is perfect for anyone looking for a versatile bag to take camping. It runs $145 for regular and $155 for long. Weighing in at only 2 lbs, 6 oz stuffed at 8"x17", you can't even tell it's there. Talk about packability! It keeps you comfortable in weather down to 30 F, and even colder if you're wearing clothes under it. I highly recommend the Dimension series Mountain Hardware bags with the Polarguard 3D (top of the line warmth and light weight materials) to anyone that does some serious backpacking. It also comes with a mosquito hood for the face! The LONG is GREAT for tall (I am 6'5") campers!!

This is a great lightweight 3 season bag. It is the lightest synthetic bag I have ever found. There are several reasons that I really like this bag: It has kept me comfortable down to 38 degrees (in a tent), and I am a cold sleeper. It compresses into a very small bundle, and takes up little room in my pack, so I can use a lighter pack. My bag has the (now discontinued) crazy legs feature, which lets the bag expand enough at the knees for you to cross your legs. The foot section is roomy enough that my feet don't feel ""choked,"" which is a real plus. Only two minor complaints: The zipper only has one ""pull tab"", which is supposed to slide for use on both the inside and outside. It is never on the side you need. I tied a ribbon pull to the inside, and quit worrying about it. The other quibble is that I am broad shouldered, and the big is a little snug there. All things considered, I would recomend this bag to anyone for tempratures down to the very low 40's. A first class product.

I do like this bag, it's roomy but not big, and well designed. I compared it to a TNF bag (I don't recall the model, it was 2 yrs ago) when I bought, and this one fit my body much better, and was lighter to boot. It's a great bag for warm temps, and packs up quite nicely. It's not ridiculously priced either.
I will go against the others in saying I think the temp rating is optimistic at best. I was in Moab this past Oct, two nights in low 30s, and I was cold...and I'm not a cold sleeper. I finally had to put on a 200wt fleece jacket and pants to warm up, and that was with the hood chinched tight. That was the coldest I'd slept in it, and I sure was kicking myself on that trip for not bringing my warmer bag. I think 40deg is about the limit, at least for me.

Customer Service

I've dealt with MHW's customer service for a tent related problem, and they were extremely helpful and prompt.
