Rated down to -15 degrees the Solar Flare is awesome...I think it could easily go lower than that...The Dryloft shell has kept the bag bone dry while my friends EMS Pertex bag got soaked...Good draft collar...nits to pick? Zipper can snag (stangely enough, I have this problem on lots of my North Face gear) and it's hard to pack as the shell seems to trap air...Use a compression stuff sack and it will back down VERY small with some effort! Also, it's expensive (+500$) unless you go to CampMor and get lucky like I did. Customer Service I've sent them damaged products before and they were always very prompt and repaired or replcaed it...I have a lot of North Face stuff mostly because it's good, but it's also widely available... Similar Products Used: EMS -5 Pertex. (soaks through too easy but good value) TNF Cornice 3D (love it!) Sierra Design Lite Loft 20 (not too warm but very light and packable with an awesome hood!) |

Fantastic warm bag. My first down bag, and I'll never go back to synthetics. I have never been cold in this bag. A bit expensive, but well wort it once you get into some cold weather. Customer Service The North Face has been always been slow to respond to orders, but they make good down bags. Similar Products Used: Also used TNF Cat's Meow, junk! |

I used this bag on Mt. Shasta on one of the coldest nights and boy did it keep me toasty warm. |
