By working at a gear store and leading 30 day wilderness trips I am in a great position to examine and use all sorts of gear. After using bags from the North Face, Slumberjack, Sierra Designs, Mountain Hardware, Moonstone, LL Bean, and Kelty I can say without a doubt Western Mountaineering bags are the best sleeping bags on the market today (I haven't tried a Feathered Friends bag as of yet). The Apache Super DL leads the way in their line of a solid 3-season bag. Look closely and you'll see an imaculately made bag. From the no-snag zipper stiffened by 1 1/2 inches of starched fabric, stiching that is precise and flawless, smaller zippers to reduce weight, the generous use of Dryloft, the 6 inch loft, the bulging draft tubes and collars, the contoured fit, the lack of a side wall baffle enabling down shift during warmer/cooler nights, and most impressively the 19oz of 750 down make this the bag to end all other bags!! No other bag on the market has all these features. Also you can request 800 fill down, overfill, and size adjustments to fit YOU!! For those of you interesting in protecting your environment and not just sleeping in it, the bag is made in the USA by a very small company, saving transportation costs to and from Asia, reducing emmisions, and supporting local jobs and the economy.
I have used this bag in wet/cold, dry/cold, humid/warm environs from the Rockies to the Northwoods to my backyard here in Ohio and it has excelled flawlessly. The bag feels more humid than a nylon or microfiber and will need to be dried/aired out at every opportunity. This goes quickly though--it's lining is black. I have washed the bag once--by hand in my tub with Nixwax down wash, and dried it my dryer. It looks, feels, and is just as lofty as when it was new.
If you're not convinced, by a Colman!!

This bag is out of this world, infact you could probally survive in space with this thing. I love it. It is very comfortable and should be rated alot lower than 5f more like -20f but still does good in those warm summer days. The hood and draft tube are amazing and the amount of baffles is amazing. I have not had any down shift at all. I recommend this bag so GO OUT AND BUY IT if your looking for the top of the line.

This bag is perfect for the extreme backpacker in most weather. It has some very usefull gadgets on it. Like the draft tube its big thick and is very adjustable. The hood is amazingly warm it has over 20 baffles by it self.
And the large size of the bag you could fit 2 people in it if you had to, for what ever reason.

Customer Service

Western Mountaineering is great. They make a good product and I would trust my life with it.
