This is a very well made bag. Many people are overly paranoid of down. This is usually based on what they have read or heard and is frankly mostly hearsay. I think that for the weight this bag will keep a person warmer than any synthetic. I prefer all my sleeping bags without the "water proof" shells. They hold in condensation
