I love this bag. It's very lightweight and really stuffable. And the loft is really, really good. Western says, "unrestricted" and with the lightweight fabric, it is very puffy. The bag is cut "average" for Western Bags-- not as narrow as Ultralight, Apache, Iriquois, Dakota, and the same as Antelope, Puma, in terms of shoulder, waist, foot-room. Bottom-line- a little easier to turn in, inside the bag, but could be a factor if you're a cold sleeper or very "lean." The first time I tried this bag out was in my living room. I disappeared into never-never land (that sold me). The coldest was actually a dry January night with temps around 5 degrees. I stayed warm sleeping with no tent, and I'm only in "average" health, so I think the bag performs really well. It has a "passive" down collar that is positively stuffed with down and that really seals in. The fabric on the bag is incredibly light and yet it is still downproof. Maybe not as much as Western's standard nylon, but I can count the number of "pokey-ups" on one hand, and I've had the bag for two years. I've also used the bag is 40 degree temps, and it's "OK". The bag has continuous baffles, so you can smooth the down off the top (or put it back) and there's also a double zipper for controlling ventilation. Plus the bag has the usual characteristic Western attention to detail: excellent seams, stitching, stiffening tapes on both sides and more. Customer Service Western's customer service is helpful, but the dealer was just as good, if not better. Similar Products Used: Apache, Ultralight, Antelope, Iriquois |
