Using a pad is about the single best thing you can do to make sleeping outdoors comfortable. I was amazed at how much difference this one made - very comfortable (regardless of floor texture) and WARM!

For this size and weight it's well worth carrying around with you - better to get a smaller sleeping bag than do without the pad.

After sleeping on the ground, I would probably give any sleeping pad a good review. This one in particular keeps me very comfortable when needed. I have the 3/4 length, and find it very adequate. Many good nights of camping will come out of this.

I have the full lite version for around four years now. My girlfriend bought a little bit cheap matress at the same time. Her matress is completely worn out, mine, and I've slept more nights on it, is still in top condition. But when sleeping together in a tent we useally ended up on het matress being somewhat more comfortable. The good thing: she carried a much heavier, and most important, a twice the size package and I had the comfort.
But as I said hers needed a replacement. Now she bougt the ultralite performance. This really sucks! Her package is noticeable smaller then mine and it's lighter. Normally I have the best gear, but she really got a step ahead. Okay, the comfort is a little less the we (grin) were used to, but it is really okay. An other unfortunate thing for me is that she will have a better matress for at least an other ten years. The Thermarests are so well made that even now, after quite extensive use, mine still looks brand new. So no really good reason for buying a new one. Furthermore it will be impossible to buy a better matress than my girlfriends, because there aren't any bettere around.

+ very small package
+ low weight
+ good sleep on it for weeks

- it's fun to buy some new gear once in a while, won't happen with this piece

Customer Service

You have paid, and that's not very much more than other matresses, for never having to contact customer service.

A few 'cheap' matresses. The priece for the best is not more than twice the priece of a cheap one. Ultimately it pays of (quite soon actually)

So I finally decided to buy an inflating pad, giving in to the "soft side". After years on a RidgeRest i was amazed! Very comfortable and not much heavier than the RidgeRest AND packs small enough to put inside may pack. Perfect! The 3/4 is the right size good for 3-season use and great in combo with full length RidgeRest in winter. This is one of those "oh well" purchases that turned out to be one of the best decisions ever!

Good pad. Does as advertised. Hiked about 500 miles of AT without and about 250 with. Overall, I'd say I'd use it for short hikes, but for long distance stuff in the mountains where weight really matters, I'd leave it at home.

Can't go hiking without it these days. Keeps you warmer, and more comfortable without weighing a ton. The newer valves on these last longer and work better in the cold which is always a plus. Get one, you won't be sorry..

Great price to comfort ratio...

I used my sleep pad every night for 2 1/2 months. I slept on a variety of surfaces from wood gym floors, to cold concrete floors, to the great outdoors. My Therm-A-Rest made my summer enjoyable. I didn't have a single problem with it even though I had to pack and unpack it just about every day. I highly recommend this pad!

I've used those bulky foam pads, but I like the size of the therm-a-rest much better.

A pound and a half Therm-a-rest for less than $50. What more can you say? No complaints at all.
