Switched from a comfortable self-inflater to minimize weight and save what''s left of my knees. On bare ground (or bear ground, but that''s another story) this pad was fairly comfortable, although not as good as the self-inflater. Easy to pack and light, if you''re going ultralight this is the choice. It should be even better on some soft grass or leaves, but not too bad by itself. Of the closed-cell foam choices, it can''t be beat.
