Best stove for the money especially in regard to size, weight, and construction. No auto light accessory but lights easily. Definitely comparable to the giga power stove but much less expensive.

Great little stove! Fits in a carrying case that's so small, you can literally fit it easily in your pocket. With care as to placement of the stove and the pot on it, stability isn't a problem. MSR gas cannister and stove fit easily inside the pot for packing. Great price too!

I see this little stove, more and more, being compared to the Giga. I've not used the Giga, but this little stove works well. Very compact, lightweight, burns hot and very convenient to use. I've not found stability to be a problem, but just by design, more attention has to be paid as to where the pot sits on the supports, not a problem though. I'm sure the Giga is a great little stove, but for almost half the price, this one does just fine. Ed

So far so good. Good, lightweight stove-only 3 ounces. Pot stability isn't the greatest, but that's something I'll put up with considerning this stove shaved about a pound off of my pack weight. Simmers well and at full throttle, the thing is a flame thrower. Excellent purchase for anyone looking to lighten their load.

I love this little stove. Now that I'm out of college and working, I rarely undertake anything more than a 3-5 day trip, so this product fits the bill perfectly.
It's extremely tiny, fast boil time, and can simmer, something many of the MSR multi-fuel stoves that cost twice as much can't do.
I'm looking forward to taking it on many short weekends this summer, as well as an extended trip to New Zealand in a few weeks.

A great compact little stove for the solo camper . During extensive use on the Manitou Islands we found several dislikes: The flame blew out without use of external windscreen during use on Lake Michigan shore. The narrow potholders often lead to spilled pots (if not used W/ MSR Heat Exchanger). When used for pan prepared foods, nobody liked the small burner with its jet-like flame. It also gobbled fuel compared to a much larger Markill Dragon Most thought the trade off for light weight was not worth it when You had to carry twice the fuel.
PLUS: Light weight. Ease of packability in small hardcase. Fast hot flame for boiling water.
NEG: Small potholder for large pots.
Small, intense flame that requires windscreen at anything but High.
Eats fuel like a jumbo jet! No igniter.

This ultra-light cannister stove belongs in every pack. Don't let the 3 ounces fool you. It's a regular blowtorch that responds to your every command like a well tuned high performance engine. Need boiling water - presto. Need to simmer your fine trail cuisine - no problemo. The PocketRocket capably handles anything you throw at. The serrated grips secure my mess kit pot just fine. "But it doesn't have electronic ignition?" you say. Thank God, less can go wrong. My former stove was the Camping Gaz Twister 270 HPZ complete with electronic ignition. It never was reliable. Plus, my move to the PocketRocket shaved 8 ounces off my pack weight.

Recently purchased the MSR PocketRocket from REI to use on extended day-hikes and overnight camping. All cooking was done using it and the Snow Peak Mini-Solo Titanium Cook-Set. Water boil times have been excellent. Usually 3-4 minutes even when temperatures dropped into the lower 20's. No problems with ignition, even on windy days. For someone going solo, this little stove will be hard to beat. Have not experienced any quality control problems at all. An excellent acquisition for those individuals who are watching their weight, literally and monetarily.

What can I say, this is small light and burns very well for a long time and its cheap. Do you need more reasons. I use this for lightweight summer travel when the weight of my Dragonfly cannot be justified. The best thing is you dont get flaring upon lighting. My Dragonfly did this and it melted some of the silicon on the flysheet(it set again it seconds) but with the Pocketrocket you can quite safley cook in your vestibule. I now role my inner back to cook with the Dragonfly.

This is a great little stove and only gets better when you look at the price. I had some reservations at first about the durability, but if you do not kick this thing around it will last for quite a while. Though the pot supports look less than stable they are suprisingly functional. It helps to have ridges on the bottom of the pots but it is not necessary as long as you position the stove well. This stove works so well and saves so much weight that I got rid of my other canister stove. The case that comes with it assures that it will not break when you pack it (it is small enough to fit with a gas canister into my 1 liter pot with a few utensils). A great stove for its weight, compactness, and price.
