GREAT stove. Works wonderfully on Coleman/MSR fuel. Probably works even better on iso-butane. This thing NEVER clogs. Beautifully constructed and sturdy. Very steady too! Maybe a little slower than the manufacturer rates, but the quality is top-notch. BUY ONE NOW!!! Similar Products Used: Optimus 8R (lost it in the divorce, one of my GREATEST losses!) |

Good sturdy stove. Have used butane and white gas and it works great. It is loud and could use a wind screen. Simmers very well. |

My best stove yet. It is well made, tough and reliable. It folds down very well and is easily serviceable. The legs/supports grip the pot well- much better than the MSR Dragonfly's. It will burn any available fuel. Only negatives are that it is loud. The simmer needs a fair amount of attention, but it does simmer and doesn't go out easily if you tighten down the gas too much. Similar Products Used: MSR Dragonfly- the chef's choice by far, but not so reliable. |

I bought this last winter after years of using other people's... After four trips, it has yet to clog. I've used both white gas and iso-butane. It is a bit heavier than the whisperlite, but sits more stable (the whisperlite's hose had a tendancy to tilt the stove off ballence when nothing was on it) and the grated pads hold pots/pans better. Also, flipping the gas canister over to turn off the flame sounds like a good idea, but in my experience it hasn't worked. There is usually still gas in the line the next night. Other than that, it is a great piece of equipment and overall just a better product than the whisperlite. Similar Products Used: MSR Whisperlight International. |

A great stove.Well designed and constructed, reasonably stable and still relatively lightweight. The quality of the steel/aluminium pump finally sold me.Yes, it's a little on the expensive side(AU$200), however you get what you pay for-quality and durability. The versatility of the multi fuel is unrivalled.Several makes and sizes of gas cartridges can be used for those week-end trips, not to mention any type of liquid fuel from shellite to vodka(so I've heard)for the extended ones.Simmer control takes a bit of practise with liquid fuel, but is a dream with gas.The latter can be turned all the way down to a mere "pilot light" sized flame! There aren't too many 3288's down here, so it usually attracts some interest. Has its limitations in high wind (as this type of stove usually has),and I've never been happy with the flimsy after-market windshields.Solution:Get hold of an old Trangia T-27 without the burner, remove the legs from the 3288 by drilling out the rivets, feed the fuel line and adaptor out of the hole in the side, and place the stove into the alcohol burner's hole.Minor mods(a filed slot) can be made on the Trannie base to make it bombproof if you like. Now you have the proven stability and effectiveness of the Trangia's base and wind-shield, and the versatility of the Primus Multi-Fuel nestled inside and it still packs up into a compact set.Perfect! You end up using less fuel because more of the available heat is utilised.I've boiled a litre of water in 2min 45secs in this configuration,a minute less than standard! Not to take anything from this stove though. It really is good value in that it is solid, lightweight, simple, very versatile and durable and is sure to give many years unfaltering service. Customer Service Fast and helpful response from distributors here in Australia. No problems at this stage. Similar Products Used: MSR Whisperlite (not now though!) |

I have the Primus Liquid Fuel, which is the exact same thing but doesn;t support the gaz canisters. THis stove rocks. It has better pot stability then a an MSR shaker jet stove, and its a real mountaineering stove. The Dragonfly and XGK from msr are there mountaineering models, and they are alot more expensive. I had a contest with my friends MSR WhisperLite Shaker jet stove. We put the same amount of water in the same cookset, and my stove boiled water to a tumble 30 seconds faster than his stove. Plus, my stove is all made out of high quality metal, not cheap plastic like MSR stoves. I had another experience, and my other friends MSR Whisperlight stove flared up and melted a little plastic piece. The Multifuel also has a very long fuel wire, so its at a safe distance from your fuel bottle, unlike MSR. AND the best part of all, it cost alot cheaper than MSR's.
