Day Hiker

We each got one of these packs to carry snowshoes on winter hikes. We like them so much that we use them year round. We mostly day hike but will use these on overnights as they are quite roomy and designed for great comfort and function. We got these from Campmor's website for $49.00 each. We'd pay $149.00 we like these so much! If you can find these packs for anywhere near what we paid (especially if you like winter sports) grab one! Reading these reviews probably makes you wonder if we all work for Jansport but these packs are truly a steal for the money.

Customer Service

Haven't needed customer service and don't anticipate it. These packs are well made.

This is a great pack, not full of all kinds of extra junk to get in the way, but has just enough to make it very practical. I've used it for summer/winter day hikes mostly and have only been happy. I carried 50+ pounds of water several times last summer for training purposes, and again had no complaints about the pack. Good suspension, good padding, convenient, accessible.

This is my second review of this pack. The first was my initial review which still stands. This pack is really great. It is super comfortable, super stable, super functional. I have had the pleasure of using it for winter mountaineering and snowshoeing in the Catskill and Adirondack Mountains of NY. It holds 25lbs well and securely holds all your tools and climbing gear. It also holds skis and snowshoes securely. My favorite thing is the super size water bottle side pockets. It holds ensolite insulated 1 quart water bottles which is an essential for winter hiking in the Cats and ADKs where it frequently fails to reach 20F for the high. If you can find the pack GET it. If you have it and don't like it sell it to me.

I bought the pack for running to and from work with my uniform and gear. The pack was so comfortable and easy to wear that I now use it for day hikes, climbing, and overnighters. My only complaint is that the main compartment is so large that gear ends up settling in the bottom. It could have used a couple more lashing straps for load control.

This is absolutely one of the best technical daypacks on the market right now. I looked for 5 months for a good technical daypack in the 2,500-3000 ci range with a good frame and hipbelt, but was unsatisfied with anything i looked at. I saw this one for $70 in campmor and jumped on it after looking at it in the1998 Jansport Catalog. It is feature packed and great for long day trips. It is designed for backcountry skiing and climbing. It has lash points for ski's snowshoes, snowboards, tools (iceaxes, rope, shovel ect.) It is also very streamlined so the 3,200 Ci is not that monsterous. another use for it is as a photo backpack. You can use the shovel pocket to hold a tripod (Bogen 3021 fits great) securely. As I said it is a great pack. Get one if you can

This is a great pack for a weekend, a go-light extended weekend or a gear intensive day hike. It has lots of extras but the most surprising was the removable foam pad in the detachable compartment. It's butt shaped for sitting on. :-) I like it more than my Lowe Alpine and it's infinitly more comfortable.
