I bought this tent eight years ago, when it first hit the shelves. I swear it is bullet proof. Heavy winds, no problem. Rain, never a leak. I've used this tent at least ten times per year and it's still in good shape. i'd recomend this tent to anyone looking for a good car camping tent. It is a little heavy, well mine is, I have no idea what the new ones weigh since mines still keeping me comfy.

I've had this tent for two years now and it has not let me down yet. I've used this backpacking, hiking, and sleeping out in the backyard. This tent works everywhere!! The construction is great, and the vestibule is big enought to store all you gear to make more room for you inside. Its perfect for backpacking especially because of its small size and the features it offers. The rainfly is great and provides excellent coverage, while the floor is all so very duarable. This is a great tent.

This is my favorite piece of outdoor equipment. My EMS Forrester XL is more than 2 years old. This is the lightest four-person double walled tent that I have seen. It is primarily for the weight savings that I use the tent. My wife, Children and I sleep easily in the tent with all of our gear. The tent has kept us dry in turrential rains, and held together in gale force winds on Mt. Wasington, in New Hampshire. I've even pitched the tent on snow with no problems.

Despite the limits, it is clearly not intended to be a four-season shelter. When pitched on snow or rocky ground it is nice to have this true free-standing design. This of course this adds weight but, not much. In high winds it is nice to have two layers.

All around, it's the most perfect tent on the market and I own a couple of other competing tents.

My Forester tent was purchased at what was a steal of a price, about $70.00. At the time I assumed i would get what I paid for. In truth I like the tent very much for summer and mild autumn weather. It is quite roomy and provides plenty of ventilations so that condensation does not become a major problem. On the downside it is a bit heavy for a backpacking tent. Also, the poles are not aluminum and therefore don't provide the stability you would like in windy situations. Recently, I took the tent out for a mild winter camp and found it to be a truly 3 season tent. During the night the wind kicked up a bit (30 - 40 mph gusts), and the tent was swaying noticeably. Nothing broke, bent or collapsed, however. As such I would recommend the tent for most 3 season pursuits but would not suggest it be used in foul weather.

Most of my tent experiences have been about equal. My friend owns a Mtn. Hardwear 3 season tent which is not as roomy, but has aluminum poles. It is a good looking tent, but in a recent rain storm it leaked profusely (only about 3 months old). Perhaps it could have used more seam sealant. Overall I think my EMS tent is better in this class.
