Best tent for the money. Used the outfitter version for a month in the Karakoram and had no complaints. A bit heavy, but super sturdy, sets up fast, and is reasonably weatherproof.

I have had one of these for 15 years. Purchased it in 1984 and have used it over 600 times. It has been parked on beaches, sharp rocks and alpine tundra. You name it it has seen it. THe terain is really varried here. And the weather, to say the least is extreme. This tent is easy to setup. has very few peices to loose and has accessories beyond belief available. the two doors and screens are awesome for breathability and it is a well fitted for four people in a bit of a pinch.

Customer Service

Not really. Just treat a tnt right, clean it. repair holes inthe floor. when you have time, water proof the fly and the seams

So far this has been a very good tent. The quality is much higher than any others that I've owned (although they weren't good ""name brands""). I'm impressed with the ease of use and the seams.

I have always liked Eureka Tents and I've been using them for the past 15 years with complete satisfaction. They weather storms very well, and my Alpine Meadow has been through some all day and night raging down poors without a leak. Other peoples tents turn into wading pools. Its easy to setup and not to heavy to carry for an overnighter. Plus its roomy with good ventelation.

I have had this tent for 14 years. It has never leaked and is very durable. It has plenty of room for two for a nice weekend getaway. I also have the Vestbueil (SP) I like that to!!!!

I've had my Alpine Meadows 2 for close to 18 years. It does a week or two in Algonquin Park every year and usually comes along as a spare on more mundane family trips. I have two vestibules and basically nothing bad to say about the tent. It has seen all kinds of weather including a couple of winter weekends and has withstood all adversity. Keep it clean, make sure it is dry before storing and seal the seams every couple of years (and I didn't start that until it was 10 years old) and you'll have a port in the storm for years to come.

Customer Service

Never had the need.

Athough I'm also a backpacker, my use of this tent been 70% carcamp, 30% backpack (sleep 4). Mine is an older model (no clips, segmented hoop sleeve) which I bought new for only ~$130, so I didn't comparison shop at the time, but now wish I had. In the Timberline tradition, the tent is simple and spacious for 4, backpacked weight per-person is reasonable, the optional vestibule is a good choice, and ventilation is good with the huge end doors. Fine for pleasant ""Alpine Meadows"" conditions. Of course, the devil is in the details, and the following are IMHO avoidable design flaws: **Lower Door Zippers will jam on fabric almost every time while closing unless one uses a second hand to keep the forward material taut ..an extra maneuver that lets a few more skeeters in. **although the center hoop does hold the 'Timberline' walls out nicely (the feature I wanted at the time), the Hoop Sleeve is segmented (should be continuous) and snags on each rod connector (wouldn't happen if connector casting was tapered down to rod diameter) ..a hassle that interrupts quick setup when competing with rain/wind/dark/bugs, etc. **the Plastic Connector that is the key to holding the apex of poles together is an odd piece. I'd prefer it to be metal or solid (less chance of splitting ..or melting if dropped near embers). Since the tent is useless without it, it seems it'd be wise to use a loop of cord to keep the connector always tied to the tent. **although the pullout at the center hoop keeps the rain fly off the tent at mid-wall, the rest of the fly sags onto the tent wall, allowing condensation to drip through. I've added two more pullouts to the lower edge of each side of the fly between the hoop and the corner, which solves that problem. **Fly coverage for the lower 10-20"" at the corners can be inadequate in windy rain.

Customer Service

A couple potential tears developed in the fly (from branch abrasion?); I called to inquire about replacement costs: Eureka sent one free.

I have the 2 person style of this tent. Overall I think that it was a great value. The tent has held up with average use since I got it four years ago. I just purchased the vestibule for it and I am excited to try it out. My only complaint about its design is the end poles (they keep the rain fly out and over the doors). I have hit my back and head more than a few times!!!!!
This tent has a lot of room for two people.
A bit on the heavy side for long hikes!!

Our Boy Scout troop has used several Alpine Meadows tents for at least ten years, and some of them are still holding up. We did have problems with the bottom zippers on a couple; thank goodness for the doors on each end. These tents are heavy, but roomy. The center hoop makes a huge difference in the amount of usable space, especially when we have three boys in a tent. With two, there is plenty of room for personal gear. We also purchased the optional vestibules, which are okay in very cold or very wet weather, but the boys don't seem to think they're worth the effort otherwise. We have about an equal number of Alpine Meadows and Kelty Vortex 4 tents, and the older, more experienced Scouts always grab the Kelty's first. Personally, I understand their preference, since the Kelty's are easier to set up and take down, and just feel roomier. Still, the Alpine Meadows are not a bad buy.

Customer Service

Helpful when we inquired about purchasing new flies and accessories.
